In order to reliably bring about an engagement embracing the front wheel () with minimal structural expenditure, the deflecting device is composed of a jib (), which is fastened to the front end of the vehicle, and a shield () which is moveable on said jib () outward transversely with respect to the direction of travel, with the jib () extending in front of the wheel () substantially transversely with respect to the direction of travel and having a guide () for the shield () and a force source () for moving the shield ().

Deflector device for partially overlapping frontal collision of motor vehicles

In a motor vehicle, a deflecting device () for an offset frontal collision for the motor vehicle is arranged in front of a front wheel (). In order, in the event of a collision, to safely pivot the front wheel inward, the deflecting device () forms a kinematic chain, the coupling link of which is a deflector () which, under the action of a frontal impact, is pivoted to the rear and is displaced toward the outside of the vehicle. A device for simulating a collision of a motor vehicle by a laterally hitting impactor. The device comprises a seat carriage () which can be displaced in the transversal direction of the vehicle and on which a seat () is mounted, a lateral part carriage () on which a lateral part () of a motor vehicle body is mounted, and the impactor () that acts upon the lateral part () and is provided with an acceleration mechanism (). The seat carriage () and the lateral part carriage () can be displaced independently of each other. In order to create a testing device which dispenses with the need for expensive and time-consuming preliminary tests to determine the settings for the tests, the impactor () is equipped with an acceleration mechanism () which can perform both positively and negatively accelerated movements in a controlled manner while an additional impactor () is provided that acts upon the seat carriage (). In addition, further controls () are provided for influencing the movement of the seat carriage ().
