A vacuum cleaner includes a dust collection chamber, a cover configured to close the dust collection chamber and a mount for a dust bag disposed in the dust collection chamber. The mount is pivotable about a pivot axis from a first position blocking a closure path of the cover to a second position in which the mount does not block closure path of the cover. The mount is pivotable into the second position upon receiving of the dust bag. The location of the mount in the first and second positions and a position of the center of gravity of the mount relative to the pivot axis are configured so as to automatically pivot the mount from the second position to the first position when the dust bag is removed from the mount and when the vacuum cleaner is disposed in a normal operating position on a substantially level surface.

An appliance housing for a canister vacuum cleaner having an interior divided into a motor fan chamber and a dust collection chamber includes a flat, upwardly open receiving shell. The receiving shell has a partition dividing the lower housing part into a first bottom portion for the motor fan chamber and a second bottom portion for the dust collection chamber. The second bottom portion includes a surrounding seal portion. An upper housing part in provided including an upwardly and downwardly open, substantially tubular housing insert defining the dust collection chamber. A lower edge of the housing insert is receivable in the surrounding seal portion of the second bottom portion of the lower housing part. A housing cover closes the dust collection chamber.

A vacuum cleaner includes an appliance housing including a first housing section for a motor fan chamber and a second housing section for a dust collection chamber. Actuating elements for a cord winder device and an ON/OFF switch are disposed on an upper side of the motor fan chamber. A control element for the suction power control is disposed on the upper side of the motor fan chamber. A housing cover is pivotally mounted at a rear portion of the appliance housing via a plurality of hinge arms. The hinge arms cover at least a portion of the motor fan chamber and the actuating elements. The housing covering includes a cover section that covers the dust collection chamber.
