A package for disposable sanitary articles such as sanitary napkins, incontinence products and the like, in which for each single article there is provided a wrapper formed of a bag-shaped package blank which, with the article applied to one of its outsides, is folded around the article. The invention relates principally to a package adapted for disposable sanitary articles, preferably sanitary napkins and incontinence articles, and secondly to a method of manufacturing such a product. The primary distinguishing feature thereof is that, in a manner known per se, it is designed as a bag of a liquid impervious material, which bag in its packaging stage compactly encloses a disposable article, and that pleats or the like are arranged allowing the bag, after opening and removal of the enclosed article, to expand by one or more pleats spreading out for the accommodation of a used article of the kind in question.

A package for menstrual protectors such as sanitary napkins and pads or panty protectors has one side coated with pressure-sensitive adhesive for securing the napkin to the underwear of the user. A plurality of napkins have their adhering side releasably fixed to a plastic film or the like. When the film with the attached napkins is folded, the napkins are placed on top of each other forming one or more piles enclosed by the film. The overlapping edges of the film extending laterally beyond the protectors are then sealed together.
