Cloud network implementations for a distributed antenna system (DAS) control plane are provided. In one embodiment, a DAS architecture comprises: a DAS cloud computing network; a first DAS comprising a first user plane, wherein the first user plane includes uplink circuitry and downlink circuitry, wherein the uplink circuitry forwards uplink radio frequency traffic from at least one remote antenna unit to a master unit, wherein the downlink circuitry forwards downlink radio frequency traffic from the master unit to the at least one remote antenna unit; wherein the DAS cloud computing network comprises a control plane in communication with the user plane through a network; the first user plane comprises a high level protocol interface abstraction layer coupled to the network and processes and forwards the uplink and downlink radio frequency traffic based on configuration commands received from the control plane via the high level protocol interface abstraction layer.

Cloud network implementation for a distributed antenna system control plane

A distributed antenna system (DAS) having a communication component management system is provided that includes at least one communication component, at least one building sensor and at least one controller. The at least one communication component is used to establish a communication link between user equipment within an area of a building and the DAS. The at least one building sensor is located to sense environmental conditions within the building as part of a building control management system. The at least one controller is in communication with the at least one communication component. The at least one controller is further communicatively coupled to receive sensor data from the at least one building sensor. The at least one controller is configured to selectively change an operation state of the at least one communication component based at least in part on received sensor data from the at least one building sensor.

In one embodiment, a system comprises: a central area node; access points coupled to the central area node and configured to radiate a remote downlink RF signal and receive a remote uplink RF signal; and a controller configured to execute code for a management virtualization system that includes a virtual system controller function configured to establish a plurality of virtual systems and assign physical resources of the system to each of the virtual systems. The management virtualization system includes a northbound interface driver that defines a first virtualized operator interface configured to manage a first set of physical resources assigned to a first virtual system, and a second virtualized operator interface configured to manage a second set of physical resources assigned to a second virtual system.

Systems and methods for a multiple-operator distributed antenna system

In one embodiment, a distributed antenna system (DAS) comprises: a master unit having downlink DAS circuitry configured to receive a base station downlink RF signal, and uplink DAS circuitry configured to transmit a base station uplink RF signal; and a plurality of remote antenna units coupled to the master unit, each configured to radiate a remote downlink RF signal from at least one antenna and to receive a remote uplink RF signal from the at least one antenna. A first remote antenna unit includes a secure DAS maintenance channel interface that includes a DAS maintenance access point. The secure DAS maintenance channel interface is communicatively coupled to a DAS maintenance channel of the DAS and communicates with a proximity detector configured to obtain a user equipment identification code from a user equipment; wherein a discoverability of the DAS maintenance access point is enabled based on the user equipment identification code.

Systems and methods for distributed antenna system management using mobile user equipment

A telecommunications system includes a distributed antenna system (DAS) having a master unit communicatively coupled to remote antenna units (RAUs) located remotely from the master unit, the master unit communicatively coupled to base stations; and a controller communicatively coupled to the base stations and the DAS. The controller is configured to obtain current base station performance parameter(s) including base station load data or overhead communications data from the base stations; determine an updated configuration for the DAS based on the current base station performance parameter(s), the configuration of the DAS comprising an assignment of the RAUs to one or more coverage zones and an assignment of a zone profile to each of the one or more coverage zones; and adjust the assignment of RAUs to the one or more coverage zones and/or the zone profile of each coverage zone to correspond to the determined updated configuration for the DAS.

Self-optimization of mobile networks using a distributed antenna system

In one embodiment, a DAS comprises: a master unit configured to receive a signal from a base station, and configured to transmit a signal to the base station; remote antenna units coupled to the master unit and configured to radiate a remote downlink RF signal and receive a remote uplink RF signal; and a controller configured to execute code for a DAS management virtualization system that includes a virtual system controller function configured to establish a plurality of virtual systems and assign physical resources of the DAS to each of the virtual systems. One embodiment is directed to a distributed antenna system (DAS) configured to cause a remote antenna unit deployed near a railroad track to operate in a low-power and/or muted operational state. While the remote antenna unit is operating in the low-power and/or muted operational state, the DAS determines if a train is sufficiently close to a coverage area of the remote antenna unit to trigger a change in an operational state of the remote antenna unit. In response to such a determination, the DAS causes the remote antenna unit to operate in a normal operational state. While the remote antenna unit is operating in the normal operational state, the DAS determines if the train has exited the coverage area of the remote antenna unit. In response to such a determination, the DAS causes the remote antenna unit to operate in the low-power and/or muted operational state.

Distributed antenna system for use along train track

A repeater capable of emitting as little electromagnetic radiation as possible is described. The repeater can transmit communication signals between a base station and a network terminal in a radio transmission network, such as a mobile radio network. The repeater can include a transmitter that can transmit the communication signals as a radio signal to the network terminal. The repeater can also include a sensor for detecting a switching signal and a control unit that can change the transmitter between a passive operating state and an active operating state based on the switching signal. The transmission power of the transmitter can be lower in the passive operating state than in the active operating state.
