There is provided a method and system for allocating access to digital media content. In one embodiment, the system may comprise a media server accessible over a communications network, a processor of the media server being configured to encrypt the digital media content to produce a secondary license for the digital media content, and to provide a temporary license key allowing a user to access at least a first portion of the digital media content during an activation usage interval of the secondary license for that portion of the digital media content assigned to the user. The media server further comprises an assignment database configured to store an assignment status of the license. Such a system is configured to permit the user to access the assigned portion of the digital media content during the usage interval.

Methods and systems for authenticated supplemental content delivery are disclosed herein. The systems can include a first requestor and a second requestor. The system can include a plurality of networked servers. The plurality of networked servers can: receive a first supplemental content request including a digital certificate from the first requestor; determine the inclusion of the digital certificate in the first supplemental content request; validate the digital certificate; determine a supplemental content class from a set of supplemental content classes based on the digital certificate; select first supplemental content based on: the determined supplemental content class; and provide the selected first supplemental content in an electronic form to the first requestor.

In one embodiment, the server is configured to receive an asset entitlement inquiry from one of the domains, search the asset entitlement database for asset entitlements acquired by the user from any of the domains, generate a search result identifying the asset entitlements acquired by the user from the domains, and send data corresponding to the search result to the domain from which the asset entitlement inquiry was received.

There is provided a method for use by a central key repository (CKR) or keychest to provide content access authorizations to distributors, comprising receiving a key information file including a first encrypted second key for decrypting with a first key and a content identification, decrypting the first encrypted second key using a first key to retrieve the second key, receiving, from a distributor, a key request including the content identification, encrypting the second key using a third key to generate a second encrypted second key, and transmitting the second encrypted second key to the distributor in response to the receiving of the key request. In this manner, key management for protected distributors using different DRM schemas or systems may be simplified and made interoperable.

There is provided a content based partitioning system and a method for use in performing content based partitioning of digital media content. In one implementation, such a content based partitioning system includes a system processor, a system memory, and a content based partitioning module stored in the system memory. The content based partitioning module, under control of the system processor, is configured to receive encoded digital media content corresponding to the digital media content, to receive encoding parameters used to encode the encoded digital media content, and to utilize the encoding parameters and the encoded digital media content to identify partition boundaries in the encoded digital media content.

The content-describing metadata are configured to provide the content information to the media presentation module prior to rendering the digital content. Methods and systems of dynamic content analysis for categorizing media contents are provided. Data regarding the media contents that a user is watching on one or more devices is obtained, and the environment in which the user is watching the media contents may be captured. Embodiments determine positional information corresponding to a geographic location. One or more instances of creative digital media that include content with a predefined association with the geographic location are identified from a plurality of instances of creative digital media.
