Wireless communication systems and methods related to Radio Link Control (RLC) status reporting are provided. A wireless communication device receives one or more radio link control (RLC) packet data units (PDUs) of a sequence of RLC PDUs. The wireless communication device determines missing RLC data PDUs in the sequence of RLC PDUs based on the received one or more RLC PDUs. The wireless communication device receives a first uplink (UL) grant. The wireless communication device transmits a first RLC status report including an indication of a first subset of the missing RLC PDUs less than all the missing RLC PDUs, the indication of the first subset of missing PDUs being based on a size of the first UL grant. The wireless communication device modifies a RLC status prohibit timer based on the transmitted first RLC status report indicating less than all the missing RLC PDUs.

Radio link control (RLC) status reporting

A receiving device re-establishing a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) entity. The receiving device resets a robust header compression (ROHC) context. The receiving device receives packet retransmissions having header compression based on the ROHC. The receiving device performs decompression of the packet retransmissions. Robust header compression handling during packet data convergence protocol re-establishment

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for radio frequency (RF) exposure limit compliance using uplink duty cycling. A user equipment (UE) may transmit a buffer status report (BSR) that indicates an amount of data that is to be transmitted by the UE, where lower priority data reported in the BSR may be throttled in order to reduce an amount of uplink resources associated with the lower priority data and thereby adjust an uplink duty cycle of the UE. The reduced uplink duty cycle may provide for additional transmit power that is available for higher priority data transmissions.

Techniques for managing exposure using uplink duty cycling

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may identify a throttling indicator for a shared resource associated with a modem at the UE. The CE may determine a configuration of the modem based on a configuration received from a Radio Resource Control layer of the UE. Based on the modem configuration and the throttling indicator, the UE may identify a throttling level to apply to the modem. The UE may adjust the modem configuration for communicating with a base station based on the throttling level in order to reduce resource usage below a usage threshold. By reducing usage of the shared resource by the modem, the UE may have a greater availability of the shared resource to meet the needs of other components of the UE. This may provide an improved user experience at the UE, among other benefits.

Modem throughput throttling

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to optimization of packet processing when packets are received out of order in sequence. For example, a user equipment (UE) may determine whether a difference between a sequence number of a first packet and a sequence number of a second packet received subsequent to receiving the first packet exceeds a sequence jump threshold. The UE may disregard the second packet from processing in response to at least determining that the difference is greater than the sequence jump threshold. The UE may receive and process a plurality of packets respectively associated with a plurality of sequence numbers that are greater than the sequence number of the first packet and less than the sequence number of the second packet.

Downlink data stall optimization by addressing an out-of-order packet sequence

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide a method for wireless communication by a user equipment (UE). The UE starts a first timer (such as a discontinuous reception (DRX) hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) round-trip-time (RTT) timer), after sending an uplink (UL) data transmission to a network entity. The UE then starts a second timer (such as a DRX retransmission timer) when the first timer expires. The UE then determines whether to wake up or sleep for a duration of the second timer based on a prior block error rate (BLER).

Power savings for voice services

A method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE) includes: operating in a Dual SIM Dual Active (DSDA) mode or a Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS) mode in which a first subscriber identity module (SIM) is designated as a default data subscription (DDS); determining a recommendation to change the DDS from the first SIM to a second SIM at a modem; informing a user of the recommendation to change the DDS; changing the DDS in response to, at least in part, the recommendation and an input from the user; updating a first state variable to indicate a state of the DDS; and routing internet data to the second SIM.

Congestion control algorithms

Aspects of the present disclosure provide example apparatus, methods, processing systems, and computer readable mediums implementing techniques for modifying a configuration of a radio bearer based on a request for quality of service (QoS) for a communication flow. In aspects, a user equipment (UE) receives a request for a QoS for a communication flow and maps the communication flow to a radio bearer based on a downlink map. The UE is configured to communicate over a number of radio bearers. The downlink map associates one or more communication flows to one or more of the number of radio bearers. The UE then modifies a configuration of the radio bearer based on the request for the QoS. During operation, the UE receives one or more downlink packets on the radio bearer and processes the one or more downlink packets according to the QoS.

Modifying a configuration of a radio bearer based on a request for quality of service (QOS) for a communication flow

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify an available energy for uplink transmission of a plurality of communication links of the UE. The UE may configure, from the available energy, a first set of energy allocations for the plurality of communication links. The UE may configure a second set of energy allocations for one or more communication links of the plurality of communication links, wherein the second set of energy allocations are allocated from a remainder of the available energy after the first set of energy allocations are allocated. Techniques for per communication link energy reservation

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. In some wireless communications systems, a receiving device, such as a user equipment (UE), may reduce packet congestion associated with communications between the receiving device and a transmitting device, such as a server, via a radio access network (RAN). The receiving device may measure congestion metrics associated with receiving data packets from the transmitting device via the RAN. The congestion metrics may include RAN congestion metrics and transport or application layer congestion metrics associated with the network connection between the receiving device and the transmitting device. The receiving device may estimate packet congestion at the receiving device according to the measured congestion metrics. The receiving device may modify connection parameters of the network connection based on the estimated packet congestion. The receiving device may communicate with the transmitting device over the network connection in accordance with the modified connection parameters.

Downlink congestion control optimization

In an embodiment, a UE receives a first uplink grant for a first RAT (e.g., 5G NR) and a second uplink grant for a second RAT (e.g., LTE). In one embodiment, the UE schedules an uplink transmission on the first RAT (e.g., by selectively dropping the uplink transmission on particular resource blocks) so as to manage an amount of time that is based on concurrent uplink transmissions on both the first and second RATs are performed. In another embodiment, the UE establishes a first period of time where a BSR transmitted by the UE on the first RAT is adjusted based on scheduling of concurrent uplink multi-RAT transmissions, and a second period of time where no BSR is transmitted by the UE on the first RAT based where concurrent uplink transmissions on both the first and second RATs are not permitted to be scheduled.

Managing concurrent multi-rat uplink transmissions at a user equipment

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) configurations that enable uplink transmissions during different transmission time intervals (TTIs) may be used. For example, a base station may configure SPS for a set of TTIs, where the configuration may include a periodicity between shortened TTIs (sTTIs) (e.g., two-symbol, three-symbol, seven-symbol TTIs, etc.) that may be used by a user equipment (UE) for uplink transmissions. The base station may signal the SPS configuration to the UE, and the UE may then identify locations of TTIs for use in SPS transmissions. For instance, the UE may identify the location of a set of sTTIs that are designated for SPS and that occur at a certain periodicity indicated by the configuration. Upon identifying the TTI locations, the UE may transmit uplink data during one or more of the identified TTIs in accordance with the periodicity.

Periodic grants for multiple transmission time interval configurations

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may initiate a first service, having a first priority during a time interval, associated with a first subscriber identification module (SIM), and a second service, having a second priority during the time interval, associated with a second SIM of the UE, the first priority having a higher priority than the second priority. The UE may identify a first type of communication associated with the second SIM. The UE may adjust, based at least in part on the first type of communication, at least one of the first priority or the second priority during the time interval.
