The disclosure is related to a rotary cutting apparatus () comprising a frame (); a first rotary device (or) comprising a first shaft concentrically arranged about a first rotational axis (A or B) and a first drum (or); a second rotary device (or) comprising a second shaft concentrically arranged about a second rotational axis (A or B) and a second drum (or); said first and second rotational axes being substantially horizontal and substantially in the same plane, wherein, a monitoring unit () is at least partially embedded in at least one of the drums of the first and second rotary devices, the monitoring unit being configured for measuring at least one working parameter and for transmitting data representative of the at least one working parameter between the monitoring unit and an interface transmission unit positioned outside either the first or second rotary device or both.

Rotary cutting apparatus with an embedded monitoring unit

A cutting unit includes a stationary frame, a cutting drum, and an anvil drum. The cutting drum and the anvil drum are arranged one over the other for cutting web material fed therebetween. The upper drum is centerd on a rotatable arbour and rotatably supported in the stationary frame. The lower drum is rotatable and movable towards and away from the upper drum. A rotatable carrier, movable towards and away from the upper drum, includes at least two contact rollers. The lower drum is shaftless and rests on the contact rollers. At least one contact roller is situated on either side of a central vertical plane of the lower drum for providing support of the lower drum by the contact rollers only. A pressing device moves the carrier and the lower drum towards and against the upper drum for providing cutting pressure between the upper drum and the lower drum.

Cutting unit

Rotary cutting apparatus has a frame, a first rotary device and a second rotary device. Each of the first and second rotary devices has a shaft concentrically arranged about a rotational axis and a drum and are arranged in the frame in such a way that said first and second axes are substantially horizontal and substantially in the same vertical plane. A pair of bearing housings is arranged on either side of each of the drums. A first pair of bearing housings is movable relative to the frame in a transverse direction to the first rotational axis by means of a force means. Means is provided for passive vibration attenuation of at least the first shaft that includes a mass damper having a housing and a damping body movably arranged inside the housing, wherein the mass damper is associated with the first pair of bearing housings.

Rotary cutting apparatus has a frame, a first rotary device and a second rotary device. Each of the first and second rotary devices has a shaft concentrically arranged about a rotational axis and a drum and are arranged in the frame in such a way that said first and second axes are substantially horizontal and substantially in the same vertical plane. A pair of bearing housings is arranged on either side of each of the drums. A first pair of bearing housings is movable relative to the frame in a transverse direction to the first rotational axis by means of a force means. Means is provided for passive vibration attenuation of at least the first shaft, the means being able to reduce vibrations due to impacts of the first drum in relation to the second drum.
