A coolant pump includes a pump frame, a driving wheel driven by an engine, a pump wheel driven by the driving wheel, and a clutch which couples the driving wheel with the pump wheel. The clutch comprises a friction surface arranged at the driving wheel, and a clutch disc which corresponds to the friction surface. The clutch disk is connected with and co-rotates with the pump wheel, and is axially shiftable between an engaged and a disengaged position. An axial pretension spring pretensions the clutch disc into the disengaged position. A permanent magnet forces the clutch disc into the engaged position. An electromagnet, when energized, generates a polarization which is opposite to a polarization of the permanent magnet to reduce a total magnetic attraction force of the permanent magnet with respect to the clutch disc and to thereby push the clutch disc into the disengaged position via the pretension spring.

Coolant pump with plastic bonded magnet

A coolant pump includes an impeller pump wheel, a pump housing defining an outlet volute, and an outlet valve arrangement. The pump housing comprises an outlet volute housing which defines a first outlet channel comprising a valve opening. The valve opening is defined by a valve seat which defines a valve seat plane and a symmetry plane. The symmetry plane is arranged in the middle of and rectangular to the valve seat plane. The outlet valve arrangement is in the first outlet channel and comprises a valve flap which opens/closes the valve opening. The valve flap comprises a flap seat corresponding to the valve seat. The valve flap rotates around a pivot axis parallel to the symmetry plane and having an eccentricity from the symmetry plane which is between 1/20 and 1/1 of a distance of the pivot axis to the valve seat plane when the valve flap is open.

Mechanical coolant pump

A coolant pump includes an outlet volute comprising a pivot axis, an impeller pump, a housing, and an outlet valve arrangement. The housing comprises an outlet volute housing defining the outlet volute and comprises a volute housing wall comprising a recess, and a first outlet channel comprising a valve opening. The outlet valve arrangement is disposed in the first outlet channel and comprises a valve body which opens or closes the valve opening. The valve body comprises a circle segment body comprising a proximal surface and a maximum outside radius. The circle segment body is rotated around the pivot axis. The proximal surface is distant from the pivot axis by an offset distance which is at least &#xbc; of the maximum outside radius. The recess houses the circle segment body in the closed valve position. A lateral distance of the pivot axis to the volute housing wall is approximately equal to the offset distance.

A mechanical coolant pump for an internal combustion engine includes an impeller pump wheel. The pump housing comprises an outlet valve arrangement arranged between an outlet volute and a pump outlet, and a support portion. The pump housing closes and/or opens a valve opening. The outlet valve arrangement comprises a valve body which pivots. The valve body comprises a closing element which covers the valve opening, and first and second end disks. The closing element comprises an opening seat in a closed valve position. The first and second end disks are parallel to each other, are arranged at opposite axial ends of, and perpendicular to, the closing element, and rotate around a pivot axis. The first and second end disks each comprise a radial clamping nose which acts with the support portion to radially push the closing element against the opening seat in a closed valve position.

A mechanical coolant pump for an internal combustion engine includes a pump rotor wheel comprising rotor blades configured to pump a coolant radially outward. A non-rotating ring of pump stator blades is configured to encircle the pump rotor wheel. At least one of the pump stator blades is a static blade. At least one of the pump stator blades is a pivotable blade configured to pivot about a pivot axis arranged within the pivotable blade.

An adjustable mechanical coolant pump for an internal combustion engine includes a pump rotor wheel comprising an axial inlet. The pump rotor wheel is configured to pump a coolant radially outwardly. Variable pump stator blades are arranged so as to pivot radially outwardly at a circle concentrically with the pump rotor wheel. A control ring is configured to pivot the variable pump stator blades when the control ring is rotated. An actuator is configured to rotate the control ring so as to pivot the variable pump stator blades between an open position and a closed position. A pump housing body is configured to support the variable pump stator blades and the control ring. A separate static blade holding frame is mounted to the pump housing body. The variable pump stator blades and the control ring are captively mounted at the separate static blade holding frame.

Adjustable mechanical coolant pump

A mechanical coolant pump for an internal combustion engine includes a pump rotor wheel comprising a blocking ring and rotor blades. The rotor blades are configured to pump a coolant radially outwardly. Variable pump stator blades are pivotably supported by a static blade holding ring at a first axial blade end. The variable pump stator blades are arranged radially outwardly of the pump rotor wheel. The blocking ring is arranged to partially overlap a second axial blade end.

A mechanical coolant pump for an internal combustion engine includes an outlet channel comprising an outlet valve and an outlet channel wall with a passing slit. An impeller is configured to pump a coolant into the outlet channel. The outlet valve comprises a shiftable flat valve plate configured to be shiftable in a transversal plane of the outlet channel through the passing slit of the outlet channel wall.
