A method for managing a charge state of a battery left to rest and experiencing losses of capacity over time, includes the following stages repeated at regular time intervals: determining the losses of capacity experienced by the battery during a time interval; determining a target value of the charge state; on the basis of the losses of capacity experienced by the battery, a predetermined minimum charge quantity and a maximum discharge capacity of the battery, the target value of the charge state being strictly less than 100%; and adjusting the charge state of the battery to the target value.

The method for controlling the end of discharge of a rechargeable battery according to the invention comprises determining the transition frequency of the battery and determining an end-of-discharge criterion of the battery according to said transition frequency. Said end-of-discharge criterion is representative for example of a predetermined maximum value of the slope of the transition frequency. The transition frequency can be determined periodically during use of the battery, discharging being interrupted by regulating means according to said transition frequency.

Method for controlling the end of the discharge of a rechargeable battery

The autonomous system comprises an intermittent power source delivering a direct current. A supercapacitance is connected in parallel with the battery and the power source respectively via a first switch and a second switch. Charging of the battery comprises pulsed current charging managed by a control circuit. During a current pulse, the amplitude of the current and the amplitude of the voltage increase at the terminals of the battery are measured. The dynamic internal resistance of the battery is determined from said amplitudes. A maximum acceptable current threshold is determined according to a maximum voltage threshold, to said dynamic internal resistance and to the no-load voltage at the battery terminals. At the next current pulse, the value of the charging current is limited by controlling the closing time of the second switch.

Method for pulsed charging of a battery in an autonomous system comprising a supercapacitance

The batteries of at least one battery subset are partially and preferably simultaneously charged; during this partial charging, electrical parameters representative of a coup de fouet effect on charging are measured to enable the extent of discharge of each of the batteries of the subset to be analyzed; the batteries are then charged sequentially with an order of priority that depends on the extent of discharge of the different batteries; priority is preferably given to charging the most extensively discharged batteries.
