A guide assembly includes an annular guide body defining a cavity, and a plurality of roller assemblies mounted within the guide body. Each roller assembly includes an annular roller mounted onto a pin and arranged to rotate around the pin. The pins are arranged such that their axes define a ring around the interior of the guide body and the annular rollers arranged to protrude through respective openings in the guide body into the cavity. Each annular roller has a concave outer surface.

Linear motor system guide

A twin-disc tribometer assembly includes a first sample drive shaft arranged to receive a first sample disc and a second sample drive shaft arranged to receive a second sample disc; a first drive motor configured to rotate the first drive shaft and a second motor arranged to rotate the second drive shaft. The first and second drive shafts are configured to be positioned relative to each other such that a sample disc mounted on the first drive shaft will make a point contact with a sample disc on the second drive shaft as the drive shafts rotate. The assembly is configured to allow the shafts to rotate relative to each other in a non-continuous reciprocating motion or a non-collinear motion where one sample disc is tilted with respect to the other.

Twin-disc tribometer

Actuator

A servo valve torque motor apparatus including a pair of pole pieces; one or more permanent magnet(s) held between the pole pieces an armature supported between the pole pieces for rotation about an axis; the armature being for connection to a member that resists rotation of the armature; and a coil on the armature; wherein when an electrical current is passed through the coil the armature is rotated against the member; and wherein the magnet(s) is/are secured to the two pole pieces by mechanical fixings passing through holes in the magnet(s).

Servo valve torque motor

An actuator including a pair of load sensors arranged in the load path through the actuator. The load sensors are antagonistically preloaded and their outputs electrically connected to a processor for calculating a load in the actuator from the difference in loads measured by the respective load sensors.
