Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may configure one or more radio frequency (RF) chains of the UE to communicate using a second radio access technology (RAT) for a length of time. The UE may identify that the length of time satisfies a threshold. The UE may configure the one or more RF chains to the first RAT. The UE may initiate a beam measurement on the first RAT in a number of consecutive measurement occasions based at least in part on the length of time satisfying the threshold. Numerous other aspects are described.

A user equipment (UE) may measure a reference signal over a first subset of a set of measurement occasions using a serving UE receive beam according to a serving beam measurement periodicity. The UE may measure the reference signal over a second subset of the set of measurement occasions using a first subset of candidate UE receive beams of a set of candidate UE receive beams. The UE may measure the reference signal over a third subset of the set of measurement occasions using a second subset of candidate UE receive beams of the set of candidate UE receive beams. The UE may perform beam switching to a candidate UE receive beam of the set of candidate UE receive beams based at least in part on a result of measuring the reference signal.

In an example, a UE may identifying a first SSB overlapping with or after a PO. Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Multiple reference signal occasions may occur during an inactive period of a discontinuous reception cycle configured for a wireless device. An amount of time the UE will be awake during the discontinuous reception cycle if the UE wakes up during a reference signal occasion of the multiple reference signal occasions may be determined for each of the reference signal occasions. The UE may wake up during the reference signal occasion associated with the shortest amount of awake time relative to the other reference signal occasions.

In an aspect, the present disclosure includes a method, apparatus, and computer readable medium for wireless communications at a user equipment (UE) for measuring one or more synchronization signal block (SSB) beams from a network entity; selecting a highest rated SSB beam from the one or more SSB beams based on one or more selection factors; transmitting, to the network entity, a beam report including an identification of the highest rated SSB beam; initiating a timer in response to transmitting the beam report; determining whether a media access control (MAC) control element (CE) is received from the network entity before expiration of the timer; and performing beam switching from a current SSB beam to the highest rated SSB beam based on a determination that the MAC CE is not received from the network entity before expiration of the timer.

Techniques for handling a radio link failure in a wireless communication system

In a particular implementation, a method of wireless communication includes searching, at a user equipment (UE) having a first subscriber identity module (SIM) and a second SIM, transmit beams from a base station and receive beams from the UE to determine a subset of transmit beams. The method also includes storing indicators of the subset of transmit beams in a database accessible to the UE in response to the second SIM performing a particular operation that causes the first SIM to perform a tune away operation. The method further includes, after completion of the particular operation, performing measurement operations on the subset of transmit beams to select a particular transmit beam of the subset of transmit beams and a corresponding particular receive beam for attachment to the base station.

Beam selection for multi-subscriber identity module (MSIM) devices

Aspects of the disclosure relate to minimizing the number of antenna array modules on a wireless communication device utilized in forming beam pair links (BPLs) based on beam measurements obtained on each of a plurality of receive beams for each of a plurality of transmit beams. For at least one BPL, the wireless communication device selects a different receive beam that results in at least one fewer active antenna array module. In some examples, the different receive beam selected for a BPL has a beam measurement value within a predefined variance from a beam measurement value of an original receive beam for the BPL. In addition, the wireless communication device can confirm that the beam measurement values of both the original and different receive beams satisfy a minimum beam measurement value before switching the BPL to the different receive beam. Other aspects, features, and embodiments are also claimed and described.
