A building control device includes a controller for controlling one or more building control components, the controller configured to generate building control information and/or consume building control information. The building control device includes an MQTT component that is operatively coupled to the controller, the MQTT component for publishing outgoing building control information generated by the controller and/or subscribing to incoming building control information for consumption by the controller over an IP network. A MUD component is for use in advertising one or more specifications for the building control device on the IP network.

Building management system architecture

A sensor assembly includes a housing, a sensor, and a transmitter. A power supply is configured to power the sensor assembly. A light harvesting element is configured to convert incident light into electrical energy for replenishing the power stored by the power supply. A controller activates and deactivates the sensor in accordance with a first activation schedule. The controller monitors a power reserve parameter of the power supply. When the power reserve parameter drops below a first power reserve threshold, the controller alters the activation schedule to a second activation schedule for the sensor that reduces power consumption from the power supply. After the light harvesting element replenishes the power stored by the power supply above a second power reserve threshold, the controller alters the activation schedule to return to the first activation schedule.

A method for reducing risks of airborne infection within a facility having a Building Management System (BMS) with a plurality of sensors disposed within the facility configured to measure a plurality of different healthy building parameters that impact risk of airborne infection includes a controller receiving values for a plurality of different healthy building parameters and applying the values of the plurality of different healthy building parameters to a risk model that processes the values of the plurality of different healthy building parameters in order to ascertain an airborne infection risk score for at least part of the facility and one or more suggested changes to a current operation of the BMS system in order to reduce the airborne infection risk score.

Airborne infection early warning system

A building management system (BMS) for a medical facility that includes a plurality of rooms with at least one of the rooms having a plurality of sensors. An elevated infection risk determination system is operatively coupled to the plurality of sensors for determining when an elevated infection risk occurs in one or more of the rooms. The BMS may include a memory for storing one or more programmable infection risk compliance parameters, an input port for receiving an elevated infection risk alert for the particular room in the medical facility, a control port for providing control commands to one or more building components of the building management system, and a controller. The controller may be configured to provide control commands via the control port in response to receiving the elevated infection risk alert for the particular room based at least in part on one or more programmable infection risk compliance parameters to help mitigate the elevated infection risk in the particular room.

Methods and systems for improving infection control in a building

A computer assisted method for processing output from a mmWave sensor to derive a more reliable count of people in a room, zone or space being monitored by the sensor. In some examples, damping is applied to a varying 'people count' signal from the sensor. The damping reduces volatility of the people count and avoids counting anomalous false positive detections. When the people count value decreases, damping may be applied more heavily to disregard intermittent false negatives where the sensor momentarily fails to detect an actual person. In some examples, the mmWave sensor provides point clouds representing the approximate shape and location of detected apparent objects, some of which may be people. Some example methods define digital targets corresponding to the point clouds. The targets are deemed to represent real people if the objects and their corresponding targets have sufficient lifespan and exhibit movement within a predetermined normal range.

Methods and systems for improving target detection performance of an indoor radar sensor

A sensing assembly includes a baseboard and a daughterboard operatively coupled to the baseboard. The baseboard includes a microcontroller unit (MCU) mounted to the baseboard, the MCU executing a Real Time Operating System (RTOS) and embedded Artificial Intelligence (AI) code, and two or more sensors that are mounted to the baseboard and operatively coupled to the MCU. The daughterboard includes two or more sensors that are mounted to the daughterboard. The MCU is configured to receive an output signal from each of the two or more sensors mounted to the daughterboard and the two or more sensors mounted to the baseboard and to process two or more of the output signals using the embedded AI code to produce one or more output parameters. The baseboard includes communication circuitry for communicating one or more of the output parameters to a remote device such as a remote server.

Multi-sensor platform for a building

A signal is received from an occupancy sensor each time a person passes through an access point corresponding to a building space, and is identified as indicating a person either entering or exiting the building space. An occupancy count is maintained for each of the building spaces by incrementing the occupancy count when the signal indicates a person entering and decrementing the occupancy count when the signal indicates a person exiting. A determination is made as to whether the occupancy count for any of the building spaces of the plurality of building spaces has reached a threshold for the corresponding building space. Action is taken in response to determining that the occupancy count for any of the building spaces of the plurality of building spaces has reached the threshold for that particular building space.

Using smart occupancy detection and control in buildings to reduce disease transmission

A system for controlling one or more components servicing a space of a building based on an occupancy status of the space. The system may comprise a motion sensor, a person sensor for detecting each person passing through an access to the space, and a controller operatively coupled to the motion sensor and the person sensor. The controller may be configured to monitor the motion sensor for detected motion in the space, monitor the person sensor and maintain a people count of people currently in the space. The controller may use the detection of motion and/or the people count to determine if the space is occupied or unoccupied. The controller may then control one or more of the components servicing the space in a first control mode when the space is determined to be occupied and in a second control mode when the space is determined to be unoccupied.
