An interface, apparatus, and method are described for communication between a radio control (REC) node and first and second radio equipment (RE) nodes in a radio base station that transceives information over radio interface using multiple antenna carriers. The REC node is separate from and coupled to the first RE node by a first transmission link, and the second RE node coupled to the first RE by a second transmission link. Both control information and user information intended for communication between the REC node and the first RE node and the REC and the second RE node are conveyed over the first transmission link. The first RE node also conveys information between the REC and second RE node. Many advantageous features are described.

Interface, apparatus, and method for communication between a radio equipment control node and one or more remote radio equipment nodes

In sending a transmission signal, in particular a mobile radio signal, to a receiver, the transmission signal is processed according to a modulation coding scheme MCS and subjected to amplitude limited to obtain a specified ratio of maximum to average transmission power PAR. A limit value EVM for an error in the transmission signal is matched to transmission conditions for the transmission signal, according to demand, in such a way that a maximum signal to interface ration is achieved at a receiver.

Method and device for sending transmission signal, in particular mobile radio signal

A method synchronizes assemblies in a base station to a reference clock signal. A local clock signal and a frame are formed in a first assembly. The clock signal and the frame are transmitted, using a synchronous transmission with a predictable propagation time, to a second assembly. A reference clock signal is received in the second assembly, and a phase difference and a time difference between the transmitted clock signal on the one hand and the reference clock signal on the other hand are determined. The phase difference and the time difference are transmitted from the second assembly to the first assembly via a link without a predictable propagation time. The phase difference and the time difference are used in the first assembly to determine a manipulated variable which controls the formation of the local clock signal, such that the first and the second assemblies are synchronized in time.

Method for synchronization of assemblies in a base station

For transmitter-side processing of information it is decided in which direction of transmission signals for a receiver are to be transmitted, the direction of transmission being a linear combination of one of a number of antenna directional diagrams corresponding to a first plurality. In a baseband processing section (REC), a number of antenna directional diagram signal sequences (X(),X()), corresponding to the first plurality is determined from a signal sequence (T), determined for the receiver by weighting of the signal sequence (T) for each of the antenna directional diagrams with a coefficient (a(), a()) corresponding to each of the linear combinations. Each antenna directional diagram signal sequence (X(),X()) is transmitted by a dedicated logical connection from the baseband processing section (REC) to a high frequency processing section (RE). A conversion of the first plurality of antenna directional diagram signal sequences (X(),X()) to a number of antenna element analogue signals, corresponding to a second plurality different to the first plurality, is carried out in the frequency processing section (RE). Each antenna element analogue signal is transmitted from one antenna element (A) of a number of antenna elements (A) corresponding to the second plurality.

Transmitter and receiver-side processing of signals transmitted or received with a smart antenna

A transmitter unit which is disposed between the first base station and the antenna arrangement contains a device for aggregate signal forming, a D/A converter and a transmission power amplifier. The first base station is connected on the output side to the device for aggregate signal forming such that a digital output signal of the first base station reaches the device for aggregate signal forming as the first input signal. The device for aggregate signal forming is connected on the output side to the antenna arrangement via the D/A converter and the transmission power amplifier such that an aggregate signal formed by the device for sum forming reaches the antenna arrangement, the aggregate signal being formed from the first digital input signal and a second digital input signal connected to the device for aggregate signal forming. The second base station is connected on the output side to the device for aggregate signal forming via a converting device which forms the second input signal from the output signal of the second base station.

System for combining output signals of two base stations

An interface, apparatus, and method are described for communication between a radio equipment control (REC) node and a radio equipment (RE) node in a radio base station that tranceives information over radio interface using multiple antenna carriers. The REC node is separate from and coupled to the RE node by a transmission link. Both control information and user information are generated for transmission over the transmission link from one of the REC node and the RE node to the other. Many advantageous interface features are described.

An arrangement for runtime compensation of a runtime difference, arising through emulation of a high frequency signal, is disclosed, with a signal x(t), for emulation by a signal processing device, which emulates the signal x(t) with a signal x(t) and a device for determining a difference signal between the signals x(t) and x(t). The arrangement is characterized in that the emulated signal x(t) is conducted via filter with a negative group runtime for certain frequency ranges.

Arrangement for runtime compensation of a runtime difference arising through emulation of a high frequency signal

A system reduces non-linear distortions in an output signal of an amplifier stage that is configured according to the feed forward principle. An amplifier stage input signal arrives at a main branch of an amplifier. The output signal of the amplifier, which is distorted in a non-linear manner, arrives at an adder. An output of the adder forms the amplifier stage output signal. The output signal which is distorted in a non-linear manner and the amplifier stage input signal are fed to a secondary branch that comprises an error signal device. The error signal device generates an error signal from the delayed amplifier stage input signal and the output signal of the amplifier, which is distorted in a non-linear manner. The error signal is fed to the adder in order to reduce distortions in the amplifier stage output signal. The error signal device comprises at least one transmission device that is provided with a negative group delay time.

Arrangement for reducing non-linear distortions in an output signal of an amplifier stage

A method for finding the position of a subscriber in a radio communications system combines transmission signals from subscribers to form a transmission sum signal, which is passed by cables from a base station to at least two antenna devices for transmission. Received signals from subscribers are received via the antenna devices and are combined to form a received sum signal, which is passed by cables to the base station. Each individual antenna device is associated with an individual area for the radio supply for the subscribers there. Cables lengths, which are used for signal transmission, for each antenna device are chosen individually such that a round trip delay time measurement which is based on the transmission signal and received signal of a sought subscriber is used to determine an antenna device via which the received signal sought subscriber is received. The position of the sought subscriber is determined via the area which is supplied by radio and is associated with the determined antenna device.

The invention relates to a method for synchronization of clock sources in a communications system, in particular a radio communications system, having a large number of devices (PSTN, MSC, RNM, BSi, MSi, OMC) which communicate directly or indirectly with one another and have reference clock sources (Cs) for their operation. In order to overcome aging effects or timing errors in the clock sources (C), the invention proposes the clock sources (C) of one or more communicating devices (MS, BS, RNM) be synchronized by means of asynchronous signaling from at least one reference clock source (Cs). This even allows devices with clock sources that are becoming old to be operated reliably. Furthermore, in particular, there is no need for every device to have its own high-precision clock source (CS). Use is particularly advantageous in communications systems in which no reference clock is transmitted via a landline network.

A digital-analog converter for mobile radiotelephone base stations includes a D flip-flop and a modulator. The D flip-flop is clocked by a clock signal and a digital input signal is fed to an input of the D flip-flop to produce an output signal. The modulator multiplies the output signal produced from the D flip-flop with the clock signal and outputs an analog output signal indicative thereof.

Digital-analog converter

A frequency synthesizer, especially for mobile radio base stations, transforms a digital input signal having a first frequency rapidly into a digital output signal having a second frequency. Similar to an N-fractional synthesizer, in the frequency synthesizer, the digital input signal is fed to a series connection having a phase detector, a filter and a voltage-controlled oscillator. The conventional N/N&plus;1 divider provided in the feedback path, as in an N-fractional synthesizer, is replaced by some sort of digital synthesizer that is clocked or supplied with the digital output signal that is produced by the voltage-controlled oscillator.

A form of modulation that is variable in terms of its number of steps is provided in a mobile communication system using a digital modulation of a modulation carrier. The number of steps of the modulation in the respective digital transmission channel is thereby adaptively matched to the respectively existing transmission conditions during operation such that a largely constant error probability is achieved in this transmission channel. The modulation method is to be preferably applied in a mobile communication system with combined time-division multiplex/frequency-division multiplex multiple access methods (TDMA/FDMA).
