A device has a receiver designed to receive a data packet from a communication partner, a data processor to process the data packet in order to obtain a secret value, a transmitter designed to transmit a transmit message having information based on the secret value to the communication partner, and an authentication device designed to receive a challenge message and to use the secret value to create a response message, wherein the transmitter is designed to create the transmit message to include the response message.

Devices and methods for authentication

A sensor arrangement comprises a communication device and a sensor element. The sensor element is configured to record a property and provide a sensor signal that represents the property. The sensor arrangement comprises a security element configured to provide a secret. The sensor arrangement is configured to link the sensor signal to the secret to obtain a linked sensor signal, transmit the linked sensor signal to a communication partner using the communication device, obtain a test signal from the communication partner using the communication device, and perform a check to determine whether the test signal comprises the secret.

An authentication system includes a plurality of vehicle components each having a characteristic; a plurality of sensors, each associated with a different one of a plurality of vehicle components, each of the plurality of sensors configured to generate sensor data representative of the characteristic of a corresponding vehicle component associated therewith; and at least one processor configured to receive the sensor data from the plurality of sensors, generate a plurality of component signatures based on the received sensor data, combine the plurality of component signatures into a multi-component fingerprint, store the multi-component fingerprint in a secure element, and authenticate the first and the second vehicle component based on the multi-component fingerprint stored in the secure element, where each of the plurality of component signatures is unique to a different one of the plurality of vehicle components, and the multi-component fingerprint is unique to the plurality of vehicle components.

Pairing devices to an authentication device by sensor fingerprinting

A transceiver device includes a time of flight circuit configured to emit a modulated light transmit signal and to receive a modulated light receive signal. The transceiver device includes a control module configured to control a transmission of a modulated light transmit signal by the time of flight circuit to an access control device. The modulated light transmit signal includes information related to a transmission access request. The control module is further configured to control an establishment of a wireless transmission channel based on a modulated light receive signal received by the time of flight circuit from the access control device. The modulated light receive signal includes information for establishing the wireless transmission channel.

Transceiver device, access control devices, a transmitter device and a receiver device

An access control device includes a time of flight circuit configured to determine a distance information related to a distance between the access control device and a peripheral device. The access control device further includes a control module configured to control a transmission of a modulated light transmit signal by the time of flight circuit to the peripheral device. The modulated light transmit signal includes the distance information determined by the time of flight circuit of the access control device.

Access control devices and a transceiver device

An apparatus for accessing an encrypted memory portion of a memory is provided.
