An apparatus for slitting a web moving along a path in a transport direction has a support transversely shiftable relative to the web adjacent the path, a drive shaft extending transversely of the direction adjacent the path and substantially nonmovable transversely of the path, and a drive gear on the support rotationally coupled gear to the drive shaft and shiftable along the shaft. A mount shiftable toward and away from the shaft on the support carries at least one driven gear and a driven blade fixed to and rotatable with the driven gear. Another blade is juxtaposed with the driven blade and flanks the path therewith. An actuator can shift the mount between a cutting position with the blades closely juxtaposed and the driven gear meshing with the drive gear and a retracted position with the blades separated and the driven gear out of mesh with the drive gear.

Known winding machines for winding up continuous strips of material, especially plastic strips, use longitudinal cutting devices comprising a series of upper blades ( ) embodied as disk-shaped circular blades, and a series of lower blades ( ) embodied as circular blades. The invention relates to a method and device for reducing the volume or pressure of a fluid which is driven through an opening ( ) by moving surfaces. In winding machine for winding running webs of material, for instance paper webs or plastic foil, contact roller systems are known which have several roller segments arranged next to each other with their frontal sides, and which are supported to rotate freely and be perpendicularly movable with respect to their rotation axis. Each roller segment is held by a frame, which is supported to move perpendicularly to the rotation axis. Each frame of a roller segment comprises two lateral support plates extending parallelly to their frontal sides, whereby the neighboring support plates of two roller segments are arranged one above the other perpendicularly to the motion direction. The support plates can have deep annular grooves wherein the frontal faces of the roller segments can rotate free of touch.

A contact roller is shiftable in two mutually perpendicular directions so that it can press the cut end of a web, e.g. of thin scratch-sensitive film, against an empty roll in a waiting position while maintaining contact with the roll being completely wound in the winding position. The empty sleeve and the wound roll are mounted upon arms of a turret or the like so as to be swingable about a command axis but independently of one another.

A winding machine for paper and foil webs, especially narrow webs of very thin foils, has on each side of the machine a succession of stations defined between pairs of support arms in which holders for the respective winding tube can be received. The arms have elongated motors attached to them, the motors extending through openings in several arms and being axially offset and end-reversed with respect to one another and so disposed with respect to the motors of adjacent arms and next but one winding stations that the motors do not interfere with the belt drives coupling the motors to the holder.

An unwinding device for a machine for the processing of strip material has a pair of arms which receive the roll between them and are movable toward and away from one another by a spindle having threaded portions of opposite hand engaging the respective arms. A bearing sleeve axially entraining the spindle is engaged between the fork shanks which are connected to a piston rod of a double acting cylinder mounted on the traverse along which the arms are guided to adjust the arms in axial direction transverse to the web feed direction.

A torsion stiff frame formed by a swingable plate, a bracing bar and a hollow member or tube is mounted upon a torsion stiff frame formed by support plates and a round bar defining the pivot axis. The roll carrying arms are engaged with the central tube and braced upon the bracing bar but are shiftable by a threaded spindle driven by a motor externally of a support plate via a shaft passing through an arcuate slot thereon. A shaft also driven by a motor mounted on the support plate coaxial with the round traverse is used to drive the rolls.

A roll-winding machine for winding rolls of a web material, especially for use in a clean room, has a traverse extending the full operating width and provided with a plurality of slides whose arms hold the rolls to be wound. The slides have legs which pass through slits formed in an enclosure constituted by cover plates and/or the traverse walls so that the enclosure completely surrounds the guide surfaces of the slide feet on the rails of the traverse, leaving free only the minimal slits through which the legs pass. As a consequence, the release of contaminants into the surrounding space is greatly reduced.

Each gripping device has an extension arm, oriented rectangularly to the moving direction of the gripping device, the extension arm having a slide, guided therein. Each gripping device, in addition, has a deflection roller for the deflection of the connecting element, coming from the adjacent gripping device. The deflected end of the connecting element is fastened on the slide, and the slide is guided on a guide rail which extends at the side of the transport rail at a variable adjustable distance.

A winding machine for longitudinal slit strips, with slides which carry pendulum arms with receivers for winding cores and are movable, on a guide, transversely to the longitudinal slit direction, a driving drum being positioned beneath the guide, which driving shaft is frictionally connectable, with a driving wheel of each slide, and each driving wheel driving the winding core receiver of the specific pendulum arm. The technical problem is in the facility and shortening of the re-tooling to other slitting widths as well as in the adjustment of the winding tension. The driving shaft comprises a continuous peripheral surface. Each driving wheel is provided as a friction wheel which is brought into frictional engagement with the driving shaft. Each driving wheel is coupled via a clutch, preferably an eddy-current clutch with adjustable clutch disk, to a driving shaft.
