A ball mill is provided with an agitator and comprises a grinding chamber containing grinding medium, a stator and a rotor which are arranged in said grinding chamber, an input opening for material to be ground and an output opening for ground material which are used for bringing the material to be ground to the grinding chamber and for evacuating the ground material therefrom. The mill also comprises a device for separating the grinding medium arranged in the grinding chamber above the output opening. The rotor is embodied in the form of a rotational symmetry body, and the stator is formed by an internal surface which is complementary to the grinding chamber. The inventive rotor and the stator are provided with pins which are distributed through all surface thereof and projected to the grinding chamber.

Ball mill provided with an agitator

A roll is described, particularly a roll for crushing or de-agglomerating different materials. It can be used in all situations where deformations of the roll ends, in association with a constant roll gap, constitute a problem, particularly at high roll loadings. The object of the invention is to further develop a roll of this type so that variable adjustments or a constant roll gap are possible at different operating stages. This object is achieved in that the roll consists of a core and a roll shell, wherein elastic elements are disposed between the core and the roll shell.

An agitator mill comprises a milling container and a rotor mounted therein. The rotor is built up in axial direction of individual rings and is provided with radially projecting agitator tools being integral with the rings and consisting of a wear-resisting material of good heat conduction. The rings are cooled by a cooling medium at their surfaces facing away from the grinding area.

Agitator mill

An agitator mill has an arrangement for diminishing the pressure of the attritive elements towards the outlet. This arrangement comprises particularly means for generating a force pointing away from at least one separator opening forming a passage for the product, but retaining the attritive elements within the milling container. This force affects substantially selectively only the attritive elements. According to one embodiment, this force acts upon the attritive elements in counter-direction to the direction of flow of the product. The force may either be a centrifugal force acting selectively onto the relative large mass of the attritive element or a magnetic force acting selectively upon steel balls, iron balls or the like used as attritive elements. According to a further embodiment the separator opening is defined exclusively by surfaces of a rotary body in order to generate a centrifugal force, with this opening having a larger cross-section than the corresponding maximum size of the attritive elements. The separating device may have a rotary body within the range of a device for varying the volume of the milling container and therewith the pressure of the attritive elements therein. This rotary body may be supported by the piston of said varying means.

An agitator mill for treating a liquid containing material particles for example for dispersing paint pigment in a mixture of solvent and binder basically comprises a milling vessel containing freely movable milling bodies and with an inlet and outlet for said liquid, stirrer mechanism within the milling vessel and an electric stirrer motor for driving the stirrer mechanism. The mill features, for the purpose of obtaining optimum operating efficiency, a control circuit which regulates the stirrer motor current to a constant value by adjustment of a pump supplying the liquid to the milling vessel and/or a volume controller for controlling the volume of milling bodies within the milling vessel or the volume of the milling vessel and a temperature control circuit which controls the operating temperature in the milling vessel to lie at a constant value. Various variants and control possibilities including the use of a computer are set forth together with methods of controlling the agitator mill.
