A device and a method for determining a wheel position on a vehicle, for example an automobile. Long-wave antennae of a vehicle access system already present in the vehicle transmit a signal, which is measured by a long-wave receive unit of a tire electronic system and used to detect the position of the wheel on the vehicle. The electrical or magnetic receive field strength of the signal of a specific long-wave antenna for example is in particular detected by a tire electronic system and used to determine the position of the wheel on the vehicle.

Device and method for determining a wheel position

A receiving antenna with a rigid directional pattern, that is to say with an anisotropic receiving sensitivity of the receiving antenna, is used for localizing a wheel electronics unit in a wheel of the motor vehicle. Suitable evaluation of the received electromagnetic signals is provided in order to obtain a functionality achieved by way of the displacement or rotation of the directional antenna in the case of prior solutions. In this respect, a level of the received electromagnetic signal is compared with a predefined threshold value. As the result of the comparison, the wheel electronics unit is localized as being arranged in a wheel of the first wheel group or as being arranged in a wheel of the second wheel group.

Device for localizing a wheel electronics unit in a motor vehicle

A motor vehicle is provided with a usage authorization checking device that detects biometric data of a person with a biometric sensor configuration. If the usage authorization check, performed with biometrically detected data, is positive, the vehicle can be put into operation by performing a predetermined actuation without actuating a separate ignition or starter switch. A separate ignition or starter switch is eliminated. The driving motor can be an electric motor or an internal combustion engine. The predetermined actuation can include movement of an accelerator pedal, a transmission shift lever, a clutch pedal and a brake pedal. The biometric sensor configuration can also include connections to a driving motor start-up device and a shut-off device.

Method and apparatus for placing a driving motor of a motor vehicle into operation

A frictional value between a motor vehicle tire and a road surface is determined for use in an ABS system or a traction control system. Various sensors at the automobile ascertain the vehicle speed and the brake pressure at individual wheels. The angular acceleration of the wheel is calculated from the angular velocity thereof. A wheel slip is calculated from the vehicle speed and from the angular acceleration. The dependency of the coefficient of friction is approximated from the wheel slip with a non-linear approximation equation. The current estimation value for the coefficient of friction is estimated with a recursive estimation algorithm from measurement values previously ascertained during a preceding measuring instant.
