There is provided a system and method for creating a digital puppet show by animating a digital puppet using gestures and sound. The method includes presenting the digital puppet to a user on a display. The method further includes receiving motion data corresponding to a gesture, using a camera, from the user, translating the motion data into digital data using a motion tracking algorithm, and animating the digital puppet, on the display, using the digital data. The method can further include receiving audio data from the user using a microphone and playing the audio data, using a speaker, while animating the digital puppet on the display to create the digital puppet show.

There is provided a system and method for communicating with a first peripheral device, of a plurality of peripheral devices, using a touch-sensitive system that has a processor and a touch surface. The method further includes identifying, using the processor, the first peripheral device based on the plurality of touches on the touch surface of the touch-sensitive system that are made by the first peripheral device. The method comprises, detecting a tip connected to the stylus device from a plurality of tips, detecting a movement of the stylus device, determine a code representing a feature of an application of an interactive device based on the tip and the movement, and transmitting the code to an interactive device. The wireless stylus device may include an accelerometer, which may detect an inversion of the wireless stylus device and enable an erasing feature in the application. The wireless stylus device may provide the tip and the movement to the interactive device through a speaker using an audio code, including a frequency or series of sounds.

Techniques are disclosed that enable a toy device to interact with a computing device through wireless transmissions. The toy device is configured to communicate with the computing device by transmitting an audio signal at a nearly-inaudible frequency. The toy device may encode commands in the audio signal that cause the computing device to generate visual or auditory outputs. The toy device is also configured to receive and process interactions from human users and/or computing devices. The interactions may be in the form of speech or physical manipulations of the toy device. The toy device may respond to the interactions by generating visual or auditory outputs.
