The invention relates to a process and an installation to produce a monovinylaromatic polymer (3) comprising post-consumer recycled polystyrene (PCR-PS) wherein the process comprises the steps of mixing the PCR-PS (5) and the monovinylaromatic monomer (7) within a dissolver (9) to dissolve the PCR-PS (5) in the monovinylaromatic monomer (7) so as to produce a polymerization mixture (13); and a step of filtering the polymerization mixture (13) that includes continuously redirecting at least a part of the stream of the filtered polymerization mixture (17) back to the dissolver (9) and mixing it with the polymerization mixture (13) so as to continuously reduce the content of insoluble material in the polymerization mixture (13) contained in the dissolver (9).

Process for producing monovinylaromatic polymer incorporating post-consumer recycled polystyrene, monovinylaromatic polymer incorporating post-consumer recycled polystyrene and articles produced thereof

The present invention relates to a polyethylene resin suitable for preparing moulded articles, such as caps and closures. The invention provides in particular a polyethylene resin comprising at least two polyethylene fractions A and B, wherein said polyethylene resin has a melt index (MI2), of at least 3.0 g/10 min to at most 5.5 g/10 min as measured according to ISO 1133, condition D, at 190&#xb0; C. and under a load of 2.16 kg, and a density of at least 0.955 g/cmto at most 0.965 g/cmas measured according to ISO 1183 at 23&#xb0; C., and a molecular weight distribution M/Mwhich is at most 7.0, as determined by gel permeation chromatography, with Mbeing the weight-average molecular weight and Mbeing the number-average molecular weight; and wherein said polyethylene fraction A has a high load melt index (HLMI), as measured according to ISO 1133:1997 condition G at 190&#xb0; C. and under a load of 21.6 kg, of at least 10.5 and a melt index (MI2) of at least 0.5 g/10 min to at most 1.5 g/10 min as measured according to ISO 1133, condition D, at 190&#xb0; C. and under a load of 2.16 kg. The invention further relates to a process for preparing said polyethylene resin, to a cap or closure comprising said polyethylene, and to a process for producing such a cap or closure.

The present invention relates to an injection-molded article, comprising at least one metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene resin comprising at least two metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene fractions A and B, wherein the at least one metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene resin comprises: at least 40% to at most 50% by weight of polyethylene fraction A based on the total weight of the at least one metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene resin, wherein fraction A has a melt index MI2 of at least 100.0 g/10 min as determined according to ISO 1133, condition D, at 190&#xb0; C. and under a load of 2.16 kg; andwherein the at least one metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene resin has a density of at least 0.940 g/cmto at most 0.950 g/cmas measured on pellets according to ISO 1183 at 23&#xb0; C.; a melt index MI2 of at least 1.4 g/10 min to at most 2.5 g/10 min as measured on pellets according to ISO 1133, condition D, at 190&#xb0; C. and under a load of 2.16 kg. The present invention also relates to a process for preparing said injection-molded article, comprising the steps of a) providing at least one metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene resin as described herein; and b) injection-molding said polyethylene resin into an article.

The invention relates to a process and an installation to produce a monovinylaromatic polymer () comprising post-consumer recycled polystyrene (PCR-PS) wherein the process comprises the steps of mixing the PCR-PS () and the monovinylaromatic monomer () within a dissolver () to dissolve the PCR-PS () in the monovinylaromatic monomer () so as to produce a polymerization mixture (); and a step of filtering the polymerization mixture () that includes continuously redirecting at least a part of the stream of the filtered polymerization mixture () back to the dissolver () and mixing it with the polymerization mixture () so as to continuously reduce the content of insoluble material in the polymerization mixture () contained in the dissolver ().

A metallocene-catalyzed polyethylene resin having a multimodal molecular weight and composition distribution, comprising from 45% by weight to 75% by weight of a low density fraction, said fraction having a density below or equal to 918 g/cmas measured following the method of standard test ISO 1183 at a temperature of 23&#xb0; C., wherein the density of the polyethylene resin is from 0.920 to 0.945 g/cm, wherein the M/Mof the polyethylene is of from 2.8 to 6, wherein the melt index MI2 of the polyethylene resin of from 0.1 to 5 g/10 min measured following the method of standard test ISO 1133 Condition D at a temperature of 190&#xb0; C. and under a load of 2.16 kg; and wherein the composition distribution breadth index (CDBI) of the polyethylene resin is below 70%, as analyzed by quench TREF (temperature rising elution fractionation) analysis.
