A description follows of an aqueous dispersion of heavy oil residues, suitable for undergoing combustion with a low emission of SO, comprising: (a) a heavy oil residue; (b) a dispersing agent; (c) a desulfurizing agent selected from CaCO, MgCO, dolomite and relative mixtures; (d) a desulfurizing agent with stabilizing and anti-corrosive properties selected from MgO, Mg(OH), CaO, Ca(OH)and relative mixtures; (e) water; the weight percentage of (e) with respect of the sum of (a)+(e) being at least 15%.

Process for recovering at least 70% of hollow glass microspheres having an average diameter, according to the ASTM D1214-1989, ranging from 5 to 200 &#x3bc;m contained in a mixture of drilling mud and cuttings which comprises: a) screening, if necessary, the mixture through one or more 5 to 20 mesh sieves; b) feeding the screened mixture to one or more cyclones and/or hydrocyclones arranged in series, each of which is fed with a volume flow-rate from 1.5 to 10 times higher than the maximum nominal operating value.

Process for the separation of hollow glass microspheres from muds containing them

Oil drill cuttings, containing an oil-based mud, may be treated by mixing the cuttings with an organic solvent. The oil drill cuttings are then separated from the organic solvent and extracted oil. The organic solvent is then separated from the oil, and mixed with the extracted oil drill cuttings to extract additional oil therefrom. The oil drill cuttings are again separated from the organic solvent and oil, the oil separated from the solvent, and recombined with the oil from the first extraction step. The oil base and other mud components are recycled, depending on the treatment procedure, for subsequent use in drilling.
