Methods, devices, and systems for tracking an asset are provided. In particular, a device is provided that includes an array of sensors and communications modules configured to detect tracking information, including environmental conditions and physical events, and report the tracking information along with a geographical location of the device to a control server across a wireless network. Upon receiving the tracking information, the control server interprets the information and generates tracking reports for the device configured to be displayed to a graphical user interface of a third-party communication device.

According to one embodiment, a method for measuring cargo capacity and monitoring cargo within a cargo container can comprise reading, by a monitoring system of the cargo container, a plurality of spatial sensors installed within the cargo container. The plurality of spatial sensors can comprise, for example, one or more light detection and ranging (LiDAR) sensors. An interior of the cargo container can be mapped based on reading the plurality of spatial sensors and available cargo capacity within the cargo container can be determined based on the mapping of the interior of the cargo container. The determined available cargo capacity within the cargo container can be transmitted from the monitoring system to a cloud-based cargo management system.

In particular, a device is provided that includes a processor; a wide-area network radio; a global positioning system (GPS) receiver; an accelerometer; and a physical interface. The processor determines a GPS signal is unavailable. In response to determining the GPS signal is unavailable, the processor enables one or more sensors. The processor obtains fingerprint data from a first sensor of the one or more sensors. The processor transmits the fingerprint data to a network-based server. The fingerprint data is used by the server to identify a location of the tracking device.
