An intravascular stent and method of making an intervascular stent having a hybrid pattern a. The hybrid pattern comprises a plurality of circumferentially self-expansible members comprising a plurality of interconnected, geometrically deformable closed cells, adjacent self-expansible members interconnected by a plurality of bridge members linking a first interconnection between two closed cells in a first self-expansible member to a second interconnection between two closed cells in a second self-expansible member, wherein the second interconnection is circumferentially offset and non-adjacent to the first interconnection.

Stents having a hybrid pattern and methods of manufacture

An embolic device for treating aneurysms or other vascular disorders may be more compliant than conventional devices, while still achieving desired porosity. In particular, the device may achieve the desired porosity only at discrete sections along the length of the device where such a porosity is required (e.g., sections that will block the neck of the aneurysm upon deployment). The remaining sections of the device can be configured to increase the device's compliance. For example, the remaining sections can be formed from less material than the sections with the desired porosity. In some instances, the sections with the desired porosity are formed from mesh-screen segments and the remaining sections are formed from coil segments. In some instances, the mesh-screen segments are configured to further enhance the device's compliance. For example, the mesh-screen segment can be formed from a layered structure that achieves greater compliance than conventional braided structures.

Hybrid patterned stent device

This invention is directed to a new method of mass-transfer/fabrication of micro-sized features/structures onto the inner diameter (ID) surface of a stent. This new approach is provided by technique of through mask electrical micro-machining. One embodiment discloses an application of electrical micro-machining to the ID of a stent using a customized electrode configured specifically for machining micro-sized features/structures.

Pattern transfer device for mass transfer of micro-patterns onto medical devices

An embolic microcoil can be formed into a complex shape for use in treating aneurysms and other vascular disorders. The microcoil features a distal portion including several loops that together comprise a substantially spherical shape, and an elongated proximal portion that is deployable within the distal portion. The distal portion can create a stable frame with adequate loop coverage across a neck of the aneurysm. The proximal portion can include a series of substantially omega-shaped loops, which can apply a force against the interior of the substantially spherical shaped distal portion, expanding it into apposition with additional portions of the aneurysm wall. Methods of treating vascular disorders and methods of manufacturing certain microcoils are also disclosed.

Embolic framing microcoils

An embolic implant for treating aneurysms or other vascular disorders may include a cover component of unitary construction that is disposed about the exterior of a microcoil such that it does not extend into a lumen formed by the coil. The cover can enhance packing volume and density per unit length of coil, and can prevent blood flow and cause blood clotting while not risking rupture of the vascular disorder. The cover may also provide a platform for the application of multiple treatments and/or therapies including, for example, functionalized and/or bioactive coatings, drug coatings, gene therapy, thrombogenicity control coatings, and surface modifications, while preserving key coil performance attributes.
