Resettable circuit interrupting devices using a center latch are provided. The circuit interrupting devices include those with a reset lockout, reverse wiring protection, and/or an independent trip portion.

Circuit interrupter having at least one indicator

Resettable circuit interrupting devices, such as GFCI devices, that include reverse wiring protection, and optionally an independent trip portions and/or a reset lockout portion are provided. The reverse wiring protection operates at both the line and load sides of the device so that in the event line side wiring to the device is improperly connected to the load side, fault protection for the device remains. The trip portion operates independently of a circuit interrupting portion used to break the electrical continuity in one or more conductive paths in the device. The reset lockout portion prevents the reestablishing of electrical continuity in open conductive paths if the circuit interrupting portion is non-operational or if an open neutral condition exists.

Circuit interrupting device with reverse wiring protection

Resettable circuit interrupting devices having self-test and non-resettable or limited resettable power interrupting systems are provided. The permanent power interrupting system activates when a circuit interrupting device is no longer capable of operating in accordance with applicable standards governing such devices or the device is no longer capable of operating in accordance with its design characteristics.

Circuit interrupting device with automatic test

A GFCI device which has reverse wiring protection is provided where no power is present at the face terminals even when the device is reverse wired. The device has a pair of movable bridges connected to its terminals. The terminal bridge pair makes contact with the load and face terminals providing power to these terminals when the device is reset. The device also has a reset lockout feature that prevents it from being reset after having been tripped if the circuit interrupting portion of the device is non-operational.

A compact module with a pair of transformers and a double pole single throw relay (DPST) mounted onto a housing to create a self contained assembly for installation in a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) as a unit. The first transformer has a core and is electrically coupled to a first set of terminals for connection to a printed circuit board (PCB). The second transformer is located adjacent to and magnetically coupled to the core of the first transformer and is electrically coupled to a second set of terminals for connection to the PCB. The DPST relay has a pair of stationary contacts and a pair of movable contacts for selectively connecting line phase and neutral conductive paths to a load.

A signaling system employing indicator lamp means and an audible alarm is employed to remind a user to periodically test his GFCIs and to provide information regarding the status of the GFCI. The power lines that supply the GFCI with power are also coupled to the circuits on the PCB to disconnect power to those circuits of the GFCI that trips due to faults or tests.
