The high speed fuse employs stamped end bell and terminals rather than forged or machined parts. A slot for the terminal is punched through the end bell. The terminal is inserted into the slot in the end bell and staked in position. This insures a strong tight fit without requiring welding or soldering. One end of each terminal has coined ridges to facilitate automatic welding of the fuse link to the terminals. Round balls are used to seal the fill holes for the arc quenching material. Metal pins secure the end bells within the fuse housing but are not electrically connected to the terminals because of the insulative end bells.

An automobile fuse (10) for use in extreme temperature conditions such as the engine compartment of an automobile. Fuse (10) is a blade-type fuse with loads (42, 44) on fusible element (40) providing time delay characteristics to match the insulation damage curves of small diameter automobile cable harnesses. The lower portions of terminals (20) and (30) have been selectively plated with silver. The outer housing (50) has been laser etched.

Cable fuse

A transformer winding having a very large number of turns of wire is divided into a plurality of connected portions each wound on a separate flanged bobbin with the start end and the finish end of each winding portion secured to radial tabs on the bobbin flanges. The wound bobbins are mounted end to end on an iron core and the winding portions thereon are connected in series. Alternate methods of connecting the winding portions in series are also disclosed.
