A computing system includes an interface, a memory, and processing circuitry. The interface is configured to receive, from a production system, a first test stream and a second test stream. The memory is in communication with the interface and is configured to store at least a portion of the first test stream and at least a portion of the second test stream. The processing circuitry is in communication with the memory and is configured to: detect first embedded information in the first test stream representative of a first timestamp and second embedded information in the second test stream representative of a second timestamp; determine, based on the first timestamp and the second timestamp, an offset between the first test stream and the second test stream; output the offset.

A variety of applications involve transmission of video data in real time. However, bandwidth limitations may result in degradation of the quality of the transmitted video. To address such limitations, a video stream may be limited to 'regions of interest' within each frame of the video stream. This can be accomplished by setting areas outside of the regions of interest to an a priori known color or 'blanking' color, and the resulting &#x2018;blanked&#x2019; video stream can be compressed and transmitted without extensive modifications to existing transmission apparatus. The original video can be reconstituted by superimposing the received region-of-interest video data onto a background image of the environment that contains the regions-of-interest. The background image can be satellite imagery or other stored imagery that matches the perspective of the video stream. Geographical tag data can be used to superimpose the region-of-interest video data onto the background image.

Methods and systems for mixed spatial resolution video compression

Embodiments of the present invention provide for a region-of-interest compression methodology wherein a variety of encoders may be utilized to perform video compression on a plurality of filtered video frames without the need to generate specific instructions for each of the variety of encoders. Embodiments of the present invention receive a video frame and create a region-of-interest map based on the received video frame. The region-of-interest map is utilized to create a filtered video frame based on the received video frame. This process may be repeated for each video frame within a video stream, thereby creating a plurality of filtered video frames. The plurality of filtered video frames is transmitted to an encoder for video compression.

Method and system for providing region-of-interest video compression

A method, system, and computer-readable medium for facilitating integrity verification of a transport stream is provided. Integrity verification is performed without increasing the bit rate of the transport stream by generating a checksum corresponding to a portion of the transport stream and inserting the checksum into a null packet within the transport stream. Utilizing a null packet to carry the checksum allows the checksum to be transmitted without increasing the bit rate of the transport stream. In addition, by creating a checksum corresponding to a portion of the transport stream, integrity verification may be performed on a streaming data file.

A system and method of compressing a video signal can include the steps of: receiving a video signal, the video signal including frames; analyzing, for each frame, the video signal on a macroblock-by-macroblock level; determining whether to downsample a macroblock residual for each of the macroblocks; selectively downsampling a macroblock residual for some of the macroblocks; and coding the macroblocks. A system and method of decompressing a video signal can include the steps of receiving a compressed video signal, the video signal including frames; analyzing, for each frame, the video signal on a macroblock-by-macroblock level; determining whether to upsample a macroblock residual for each of the macroblocks; selectively upsampling a macroblock residual for some of the macroblocks; and decoding the macroblocks.
