A work tool identification system for identifying the work tool attachment attached to a machine from among a plurality of interchangeable work tool attachments utilizes a data transmission device located on the work tool attachment and an electronic machine controller that may be located on the machine. The data transmission device may store work tool identification data and may measure an interval count indicative of the lapsed time since the work tool attachment was initially moved by a machine. The electronic machine controller generates and sorts a work tool identification list of the plurality of work tool attachments based on the interval count with the lowest interval count appearing before any higher interval counts that is indicative of a recently coupled work tool.

System and method for coupled work tool identification

A system for tracking usage of a work implement includes a movement characteristic sensor, a wireless transmitter, and a controller. The controller is configured to determine whether movement of the work implement exceeds a movement characteristic threshold based upon the movement characteristic signals, increase a work implement usage time by a cycle time interval if the movement of the work implement exceeds the movement characteristic threshold, and transmit with a wireless transmitter on the work implement the work implement usage time and the unique identification number to a system remote from the work implement. Further, the controller is configured to sequentially operate in a standard power mode and in a low power mode, and while in the low power mode, power to at least one of the movement characteristic sensor and the wireless transmitter is terminated.

System and method for determining usage of work implement

A method of enrolling a mobile device to provide subsequent access to a device includes actuating a mechanical switch electrically connected to the device, generating a mobile device identification number, and generating, with an on-board controller of the device, a mobile device key. The method further includes transmitting, from the device to the mobile device, the mobile device identification number and the mobile device key, storing, with the on-board controller, the mobile device identification number, and storing, with a mobile device controller, the mobile device identification number and the mobile device key. A system is also provided.

Wireless access system for controlling access to a device

An electronic device includes a housing having a battery installed within. A spatial orientation detection unit installed within the housing generates signals indicative of spatial orientation of the housing. The electronic device further includes a timer circuit, and a controller. The controller is communicably coupled with the battery, the spatial orientation detection unit, and the timer circuit. The controller periodically receives signals indicative of spatial orientation of the housing through the spatial orientation detection unit. The controller periodically determines spatial orientation of the housing based on the received signals. The controller determines whether spatial orientation of the housing corresponds to particular spatial orientation profiles at particular periodic intervals, and switches on the electronic device accordingly for a pre-determined time period.

Spatial orientation control system

A short-range wireless device includes a short-range data transmission component transmitting data at a first signal strength. A movement detection device provides an indication that a work tool supporting the short-range wireless device is in a coupled configuration with a machine, or is intended to be coupled with the machine. A processor reduces the first signal strength to a second signal strength in response to the indication. The short-range data transmission component then transmits data at the second signal strength.

Wireless system and method for connected work tool identification

A system and method to access a machine through a mobile device includes sending a machine key to a controller on-board the machine, and a mobile device key to the mobile device using a remote server. The mobile device sends a mobile device ID to the controller. The controller determines the mobile device key based on the mobile device ID and the machine key. The controller sends a random number to the mobile device. The mobile device processes the random number to derive a first processed random number, and sends the first processed random number to the controller. The controller processes the random number to derive a second processed random number. The controller enables a start button to send a request to start the machine, when the first processed random number matches the second processed random number. The controller starts the machine upon receiving the request to start the machine.

Starting a machine through a mobile device

A sender device is provided. The sender device may include a peripheral device, a transceiver in communication with at least one recipient device, and a controller in communication with the peripheral device and the transceiver. The controller may be configured to receive a signal from the peripheral device, determine a state of the sender device based on the signal, select an advertisement packet based on the state of the sender device, and transmit the advertisement packet to at least one recipient device including data requested by the recipient device.

A method for wireless authentication of a device to a machine is provided. The device has a sensor and the method includes sensing, by a sensor of the device, a first input pattern of physical parameters received at the device. The method includes wirelessly transmitting, from the device, an identification signal to a machine upon said sensing of the first input pattern. The method includes wirelessly receiving, at the device, an authentication signal indicating an authentication of the device, wherein the device is configured to interact with the machine upon the wireless receiving of the authentication.
