Various embodiments of an apparatus, methods, systems and computer program products described herein are directed to an Analytics Engine that receives one more signal files that include neural signal data of a user based on voltages detected by one or more electrodes on a set of headphones worn by a user. The Analytics Engine preprocesses the data, extracts features from the received data, and feeds the extracted features into one or more machine learning models to generate determined output that corresponds to at least one of a current mental state of the user and a type of facial gesture performed by the user. The Analytics Engine sends the determined output to a computing device to perform an action based on the determined output.

Monitoring of biometric data to determine mental states and input commands

A method of modifying a coating material includes applying a fluid including a population of particles to a wet coating material disposed on a substrate. The method also includes drying the wet coating material so as to give rise to a coated article, where the particles are at least partially embedded in a surface of the dried coating material. The particles can be metallic nanowires, and a loading of the metallic nanowires in the dried coating material can be above an electric percolation threshold.

A sheet resistance of the higher sheet resistance portion is at least 100 times a sheet resistance of the lower sheet resistance portion.

Nanostructure morphologies are controlled by incorporating an agitation mechanism that imparts low shear mixing along with purification of a resulting nanostructure product to effectively remove agglomerates and other components of a reaction mixture. In such manner, higher yields and higher batch-to-batch consistency in the production of nanostructures can be achieved.

A portable, personal apparatus for treating drinking water comprises a generally tubular or cylindrical filter housing containing filtration media and water-permeable screen or mesh or felt or membrane or netting layer at the top and bottom ends of the filter. The design of the apparatus involves the bottle exterior and interior contouring to the filter and enables the efficient and rapid gravity flow of water in through the filter. The apparatus may be configured such that water is first passed through a top reservoir designed to receive water, followed by a porous mesh, followed by granular filtration and antimicrobial media agitated by turbulent motion of influent water, followed by a porous mesh before reaching a durable and reusable water containment vessel.

A patterned transparent conductor includes a substrate and additives at least partially embedded into at least one surface of the substrate and localized adjacent to the surface according to a pattern to form higher sheet conductance portions. The higher sheet conductance portions are laterally adjacent to lower sheet conductance portions.

Methods of producing nanowires and resulting nanowires are described. In one implementation, a method of producing nanowires includes energizing (i) a metal-containing reagent; (ii) a templating agent; (iii) a reducing agent; and (iv) a seed-promoting agent (SPA) in a reaction medium and under conditions of a first temperature for at least a portion of a first duration, followed by a second temperature for at least a portion of a second duration, and the second temperature is different from the first temperature.

Particles are embedded in a substrate by applying to at least a portion of the substrate a fluid and a population of particles, such that the substrate is softened to at least a degree that particles are at least partially embedded in the softened portion of the substrate. The softened portion of the substrate is hardened so as to securely embed the particles in the substrate.

Methods and articles of manufacture for storage and shipping of nanowires are disclosed. One disclosed method includes: (a) providing a nanowire suspension including nanowires suspended in a liquid; and (b) disposing the nanowire suspension in a container for storage and shipping, where the container is configured to inhibit agglomeration of nanowires from the nanowire suspension.

A transparent conductor includes a film of a conductive ceramic. Additives are at least partially incorporated into the film. The additives are at least one of electrically conductive and semiconducting, and at least one of the additives has an aspect ratio of at least 3.
