A visualization catheter includes an elongate shaft, a cap portion, and an offset balloon coupled to the distal end of the shaft. The elongate shaft includes a proximal end, a distal end, and a central axis defined therebetween. The cap portion is coupled to the distal end of the shaft. The cap portion also includes a visualization element and defines an aperture. The offset balloon is coupled to the distal end of the shaft and encapsulates the cap portion. The offset balloon defines a center point offset relative to the central axis of the shaft.

Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to apparatuses and methods for monitoring vital signs from a human being. Various such aspects involve an apparatus or method involving the monitoring of vital signs in a manner that facilitates enhanced characterization of physiological conditions. In many embodiments, two or more such vital signs are monitored. A signal acquisition, digitization, and computing module removing noise, extracts information useful for diagnosing a health or fitness characteristic of the human being, and/or compresses information to reduce data volume. A wireless communications circuit transmits the vital signs to a receiver.

Also included may be a handle assembly and a deployment mechanism to deploy the implantable leadless pacing device.

Delivery devices and wall apposition sensing

Delivery devices, systems, and methods for delivering implantable leadless pacing devices are disclosed. An example delivery device may include a tubular member and a distal holding section extending distally of a distal end of the tubular member and defining a cavity therein for receiving an implantable leadless pacing device. The delivery device may facilitate vascular delivery of the pacing device to a left side of a patient's heart. In one example, a distal tip portion may extend distal of the distal holding section and may be actuated between a closed and an opened position. When in the closed position, the distal tip portion may have a tip that can puncture or engage an opening in a septum between a left atrium and a right atrium of a patient's heart. Actuating the distal tip portion to an opened position may be utilized to dilate the puncture or opening in the septum.

Delivery devices and methods for leadless cardiac devices

A delivery and deployment device may include a handle assembly and a shaft extending distally from the handle assembly. A device containment housing may be coupled to a distal region of the shaft and may extend distally therefrom. The distal containment housing may be configured to accommodate at least a portion of the IMD therein. The IMD may, for example, be a leadless pacemaker, a lead, a neurostimulation device, a sensor or any other suitable IMD. A plurality of electrodes may be distributed about an exterior surface of the device containment housing such that at least some of the plurality of electrodes may be positioned to test a potential IMD deployment location before deploying the IMD.

Systems and methods for detecting cardiac arrhythmias such as an atrial fibrillation (AF) are described herein. The AF detection system includes a sensor circuit to sense a physiological signal, a heartbeat processor to recognize a plurality of beat patterns using cycle length of two more consecutive cardiac cycles. The beat patterns can be indicative of temporal relationship between the consecutive cardiac cycles. The heartbeat processor may generate a repetitiveness indictor based on a statistical measurement of various beat patterns. The AF detection system includes an arrhythmia detector to detect an episode of AF based on the repetitiveness indictor, and to discriminate the AF from other arrhythmias of atrio-ventricular conduction abnormalities.

Systems and methods for arrhythmia detection

An apparatus includes a sensing circuit configured to generate a sensed physiological signal that includes physiological information of a subject, a detection circuit, and a control circuit. The detection circuit detects a physiological condition of a subject using the physiological signal. The control circuit stores sampled values of a segment of the physiological signal in temporary memory storage; and stores the sampled values in non-temporary storage in response to receiving an indication of continued detection of the physiological condition.

An example of a system may include a depletion block neural stimulator and a depletion block controller. The depletion block neural stimulator may be configured to deliver a depletion block stimulation to a nerve. The depletion block stimulation may include a series of pulses at a pulse frequency within a range between about 100 Hz to about 1000 Hz. The depletion block controller may be configured to communicate with the depletion block neural stimulator and control the depletion block stimulation. The depletion block controller may be configured to receive a start depletion block signal and respond to the received start depletion block signal by initiating the delivery of the depletion block stimulation to the nerve, and the depletion block controller may be configured to receive a stop depletion block signal and respond to the received stop depletion block signal by terminating the delivery of the depletion block stimulation to the nerve.

Methods and device for determining a pacing vector for delivering an electrostimulation therapy are described. An implantable medical device may be configured to determine an anode capture threshold and a cathode capture threshold for a first anode and cathode pair of electrodes, switch a polarity of the first anode and cathode pair of electrodes, and determine an anode capture threshold and a cathode capture threshold for the first anode and cathode pair of electrodes having the switched polarity. The implantable medical device may be further configured to compare a cathodal capture threshold for the anode and cathode pair having the switched polarity to the anodal capture threshold of the first anode and cathode pair of electrodes and select either an anode or a cathode for delivering an electrostimulation therapy based at least in part on the comparison. Other methods and systems are also contemplated and described.

Cardiac pacing with anodal stimulation detection

Implanted medical device data is received, where the data was sensed by a first lead portion and a sensor over a time period. The number of detected noise events sensed by the first lead portion is counted based on applying first noise detection criteria to the data sensed by the first lead portion. The number of detected noise events over the sensor is counted based on applying second noise detection criteria to the data sensed by the sensor. The mean number of detected noise events is calculated for the first lead portion and sensor based on the number of noise events sensed by the first lead portion and the number of noise events sensed by the sensor. Potential lead failure in the first lead is recorded if the number of detected noise events over the first lead is greater than the mean number of noise events by at least 5%.

Implanted lead analysis system and method

The technology disclosed herein relates to a method for lead analysis for an implanted medical device. A summary data record is retrieved associated with one or more episodes from an implanted medical device through a communication module. Episode selection criteria are applied to the summary data record by a processing module. One or more episode data records are retrieved from the implanted medical device for one or more episodes for which the episode selection criteria was satisfied. Noise detection criteria are applied to the episode data record. A notification module is configured to generate an alert if the noise detection criteria are satisfied.

Embodiments of the invention are related to systems and methods for setting parameters of implantable medical devices, amongst other things. In an embodiment, the invention includes a method for programming an implantable medical device including sensing concentrations of a predictive marker such as ET-1 in a patient, selecting programming parameter values based on the sensed concentrations of the predictive marker, and implementing the selected programming parameter values. In an embodiment the invention includes a method for detecting arrhythmia in a patient including sensing concentrations of the predictive marker in a patient, selecting a level of stringency to be used in an arrhythmia detection module based on the sensed concentrations of the predictive marker, sensing electrical signals in the patient, and evaluating the sensed electrical signals for indicia of an arrhythmia using the arrhythmia detection module. Other embodiments are also included herein.
