An improved manner of transmitting and receiving messages in sidelink communication is presented in which a wireless device receives sidelink control information (SCI) that indicates a zone ID associated with a sidelink message. The wireless device determines a location of the wireless device and determines whether to send feedback for the sidelink message based, at least in part, on the zone ID associated with the sidelink message and the location of the wireless device. The feedback may include hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback, and the sidelink message may include a groupcast message. The wireless device may further receive an indication of an intended range in the SCI and may determine whether to send the feedback based on a combination of the zone ID and the intended range for the sidelink message.

Transmission with indication of geographic area

Resource exclusion in a half duplex based wireless communication system

Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for utilizing road side unit (RSU) that may be stationary units or mobile user equipments (UEs) (e.g., part of a vehicle) for managing scheduling requests from one or more UEs for side-link cellular vehicle-to-everything (CV2X) communication between UEs. To this end, an RSU may determine characteristics associated with the scheduling requests (e.g., traffic type, latency requirements, etc.) to allocate resources in the resource pool to the one or more UEs that comply with the half-duplex constraints.

Road side unit scheduling system

An apparatus may comprise a component for communicating using a first RAT and another component for communicating using a second RAT. Overlapping communication using the two RATs may cause problems for proper reception at the apparatus. The apparatus may detect that transmission or reception of a first packet using a first RAT will overlap in time with reception of a second packet using a second RAT. The apparatus prioritizes the first packet or the second packet based at least on a relative priority of the first packet and the second packet.

Priority based coexistence

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine, for a device-to-device communication with another UE, a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) configuration, of a set of MCS configurations, based at least in part on at least one of a transmission mode, a packet characteristic, a mobility state of the UE, a capability of the UE, a transmission mode of the device-to-device communication, a received indication from the other UE, or a combination thereof. The UE may transmit, to the other UE, data using an MCS selected based at least in part on the MCS configuration. Numerous other aspects are provided.

Modulation and coding scheme configuration determination

A method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus communicates with a second apparatus, including transmitting or receiving a first transmission. The apparatus receives information about the second UE from a sensor at the first UE and/or from a BSM. The apparatus determines whether the first apparatus and the second apparatus are in a LOS condition based on a correlation of the information with one or more of a channel estimation, PMI feedback, or RI feedback. The apparatus may adapt a transmission parameter for a second transmission based on a predicted location of the first apparatus or the second apparatus. The transmission parameter may include at least one of a modulation, a code rate, a DMRS density, a precoder, a CSI-RS transmission periodicity or a feedback rate.

Predictive link adaptation for V2X communications

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems (e.g., vehicle-to-everything (V2X) systems), a source user equipment (UE) may multicast a data packet to surrounding UEs. In some cases, a receiving UE may fail to receive the transmission due to blocking, shadowing, or interference. The receiving UE may multicast a message requesting retransmission of the packet. Any surrounding UEs that successfully received the data packet from the source UE and the relay request message from the receiving UE may determine whether to relay the packet. Determining whether to relay the packet may be based on a reference signal received power (RSRP) threshold, available resources, a distance to the blocked UE, or some combination thereof. In some examples, the receiving UE may successfully receive the relayed packet from the relay UE even if a path between the receiving UE and the original source UE is blocked.

On-demand relaying of messages for side-link communications

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a first wireless communication device may iterate a value of a channel access counter (CAC) to a trigger value based at least in part on configuring the value of the CAC. In some aspects, the first wireless communication device may utilize a channel access mechanism to select a set of time-frequency resources for a transmission of a packet based at least in part on iterating the value of the CAC to the trigger value. In some aspects, the first wireless communication device may transmit the packet to a second wireless communication device via the set of time-frequency resources based at least in part on utilizing the channel access mechanism to select the set of time-frequency resources for the transmission. Congestion control and priority handling in device-to-device (D2D) communications

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine whether sufficient resources are available to perform a transmission in a current slot. The UE may transmit the transmission in the current slot, transmit an early reservation signal for a future resource, or determine whether sufficient resources are available to perform the transmission in a subsequent slot based at least in part on a probability-based determination and based at least in part on whether sufficient resources are available to perform the transmission in the current slot. Early resource reservation

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a transmitting user equipment (UE) may determine a data packet to transmit to another UE and determine a set of candidate resources for transmission of the data packet based on a set of time-frequency resources that are allocated for UE-to-UE communications. A resource reservation signal (RRS) may be transmitted to indicate to other UEs that the set of candidate resources have been reserved by a UE. The RRS may be transmitted such that the RRS may be differentiated from other regular transmissions based at least in part on information provided by a control channel associated with the RRS or a payload of a transmission that includes the RRS. The RRS may indicate one or more of a size of an allocation of the resources and multiple locations of the resources within a time-frequency resource pool.

Resource reservation techniques for wireless communications

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that may enable a user equipment (UE) to transmit sidelink data within an interference avoidance resource scheduling scheme. For example, a UE may determine to segment a data packet for transmission in a vehicle-to-everything (V2x) system (e.g., to ensure that each segment fits within one transmission time interval (TTI)). In some cases, a UE may identify a data packet for transmission, may determine that the size of the data packet exceeds a threshold size, may segment the data packet to ensure each segment fits within one TTI, and may transmit the data packet segments (e.g., to additional UEs), where said transmissions may be discontinuous. In some examples, a UE may determine to segment the data packet and then encode the data packet. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may determine to encode the data packet and then segment the data packet.

Resource allocation and segmentation in wireless systems

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may utilize priority levels associated with packets or transmissions to determine whether to transmit feedback for a received transmission. The UE may compare priority levels between a transmission subject to a feedback condition and a transmission scheduled to be received when the feedback is scheduled to be transmitted to determine whether to send the feedback. The UE may communicate with the transmitting device according to the comparison and the determining. The UE may determine signal conditions causing a NAK and determine to send the NAK based on the signal conditions.

Priority-based feedback triggering

Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may perform at least one transmission of a communication, wherein the at least one transmission includes information indicating a feedback parameter for feedback regarding the at least one transmission, wherein the feedback parameter is a function of a control exclusion parameter of the UE. The UE may retransmit the communication when the feedback indicates that the at least one transmission was not received by a recipient device within the feedback parameter. Feedback adaptation for V2X communication

Aspects of the present disclosure provide synchronization techniques for user equipment (UEs) that may be otherwise unable to support sidelink communication a synchronized UE and may have also lost global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and/or Evolved Node Base Stations (eNBs) as a synchronization source. In such instance, the unsynchronized UE may utilize reference signals (RS) from the data packets received from other UEs to track the timing and perform autonomous timing adjustments based thereon for synchronized packet transmission or reception.
