The invention relates to a capacitive sensing material and a method of manufacturing thereof, a capacitive sensing coating formulation, a capacitive chip, a capacitive sensor, a method for manufacturing a coated chip, a method for analysing the composition of a gaseous mixture, a use of particles comprising titanium oxide and platinum for sensing hydrogen, and a use of capacitive sensing material for detecting a gas leak. The capacitive sensing material comprises composite particles wherein porous titanium dioxide is at least in part coated with platinum particles.

Capacitive hydrogen sensor

A sensor system, the manufacturing of such system, and the use of such system for optical detection of a target analyte in a gaseous medium are described. The sensor system includes a hollow waveguide that is provided with a reflective mirror layer along its inner wall and a concentrating coating of an inorganic sorption material. The mirror layer defines a light path for guiding light between a light inlet and a light outlet that are provided on opposing terminal ends of the hollow waveguide. The concentrating coating increases an effective concentration of target analytes, if present, and allows optical, preferably spectroscopic, analysis of the medium by recording transmission of light, preferably infrared light, guided through the hollow waveguide.

Hollow waveguide for gas detection

A method is described of manufacturing an optical sensing element for detecting a presence and/or determining a concentration of an analyte in a fluid medium, in particular in an aqueous medium. The optical sensing element includes an optical waveguide (e.g. an optical fiber) comprising an optically transparent material for guiding light through the sensing element along a flightpath. The optical sensing element further includes an inorganic coating for adsorbing the analyte from the fluid medium and an adhesion promotion layer formed between the optical waveguide and the inorganic coating. The adhesion promotion layer includes an adhesion promotion material for promoting adhesion of the inorganic material.

Waveguide with outer coating for analyte detection

A device for the detection of analytes comprises a substrate () with nano-antennas (). The nano-antennas () comprise an antenna material (m,m) for forming resonant antenna structures which receive and resonantly interact with source light (L) to form respective resonance peaks (R,R) over a resonant wavelength range (A,A) overlapping respective signature wavelength (&#x3bb;) of a target analyte (A). The resonant interaction causes a locally concentrated field (Ec) of the source light (L) in the resonant wavelength range (&#x39b;). The concentrated intensity (Ic) is localized around a respective target location (T,T) which is provided with a sorption material () that sorbs the target analyte (A). This provides a locally increased analyte concentration (Ac) of the target analyte (A) coinciding with the locally concentrated field (Ec) of the source light (L). Accordingly, the interaction of the source light (L) with the target analyte (A) is enhanced.

Analyte detector with nano-antennas

The invention relates to a particle detection device and a method for detecting particles in a fluid by means of separation. A channel structure is arranged for separating an incoming flow into a major flow comprising a minor portion of particles above the first predetermined size and a minor flow comprising a major portion of particles above the predetermined size. One or more detectors are arranged for detecting particles in the major flow and minor flow. The channel structure further comprises a choked flow restriction arranged for enabling a constant flow independent of pressure conditions.

Particle detection device and a method for detecting airborne particles

The invention provides a composition comprising an aqueous solution of 0.1-20 wt. % of a poly(amine) and 0.1 to 50 wt. % of a carboxylated carbohydrate having an average molecular weight of at least 100,000 D and a degree of carboxyl substitution of at least 5%, which carboxylated carbohydrate has been obtained by subjecting a corresponding original carbohydrate to an oxidation treatment whereby carboxyl and aldehyde groups are obtained by oxidation of hydroxyl groups of the original carbohydrate, after which the oxidised carbohydrate so obtained is contacted with a reducing agent whereby at least part of the aldehyde groups that were obtained in the oxidation treatment are reduced to hydroxymethyl groups, whereby the carboxylated carbohydrate comprises at least part of the reducing agent and/or its reaction product(s), and wherein the carboxylated carbohydrate forms a complex with the poly(amine).
