Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for dynamic UE-Category switching for enhanced idle mode power savings. A method for wireless communications by a user equipment (UE) is provided. The method generally includes, determining that a cell supports a second UE category, lower than a first UE category; and while in an idle mode: operating in the cell according to the first UE category; and taking action to operate in the cell according to the second UE category based on the determination.

Dynamic UE-category switching for enhanced idle mode power savings

A method of wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) capable of supporting multiple subscriptions, includes measuring, with a first of the multiple subscriptions, neighbor cells of at least one other subscription of multiple subscriptions. The method also includes storing measurement results from measuring the neighbor cells in a common measurement results database, while avoiding duplicates. The method further includes reporting, with a subscription for which a neighbor is configured by a network, the measurement results from the common measurement results database.

Neighbor measurement method for multiple subscriber identity module (SIM) user equipment (UE)

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus relating to intelligent resource assignment to increase throughput in LTE multiple input multiple output (MIMO) and carrier aggregation (CA) capable devices. In certain aspects, a MIMO and CA capable wireless communication device communicates with a base station (BS) on multiple component carriers (CCs) through multiple radio frequency (RF) chains. In such aspects, the device tentatively switches one or more first RF chains, not assigned to a first CC of the multiple CCs, to the first CC for evaluating a rank of the first CC. The device then determines that the first CC has a higher rank indication (RI) with the one or more RF chains. The device subsequently evaluates one or more performance factors, in conjunction with the higher rank, based on which the device then additionally assigns one or more second RF chains to the first CC.

Intelligent resource assignment to increase throughput in multiple input multiple output (MIMO) and carrier aggregation (CA) capable devices

Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for wireless communication, and more specifically to opportunistic wide area network (WAN) and device to device (D2D) coexistence. According to certain aspects of the present disclosure, a method of wireless communications by an apparatus is provided. The method generally includes communicating with a base station using fewer wireless chains than supported by the apparatus, determining at least a first wireless chain of the wireless chains is available for communicating, and communicating, via device-to-device communications, with another apparatus using one of the at least a first wireless chain while communicating with the base station.

Opportunistic wide area network and device to device coexistence

Access terminals are adapted to facilitate tune-away operations in situations in which multiple subscriptions are employed. According to one example, an access terminal performing an acquisition procedure for a first subscription may suspend the acquisition procedure to obtain a paging message for a second subscription. The access terminal can tune away from the first subscription to the second subscription and monitor for a mobile-terminated page. After a mobile-terminated page associated with the second subscription is received and processed, the access terminal may resume the acquisition procedure for the first subscription.
