For example, one method involves automatically discovering infrastructure information for one or more assets located in one or more primary sites and/or one or more recovery sites. The method also involves storing the infrastructure information in a database. The method also involves generating DR configuration information.

Discovery and configuration of disaster recovery information

A method, system, and computer-readable storage medium for automatically performing operations on applications based on dependencies on other applications are disclosed. A command to start a first application can be received. The first application is configured to use data provided by at least one another application. A determination is made whether the first application is configured to use data provided by a second application. This determining is performed in response to a receipt of the command. In response to a determination that the first application is configured to use data provided by the second application, execution of the second application is initiated.

Automatically performing operations on applications based on dependencies on other applications

A method for defining and managing a composite service group for a cluster based computer system is disclosed. The method includes instantiating a plurality of application units on a cluster based computer system, wherein the application units implement a business service. The method further includes receiving a composite service group definition, wherein a composite service group enumerates application units, out of the plurality of application units, that implement the business service, and generating a consolidated status of the composite service group. The business service is then started (online)/stopped (offline)/migrated/failed-over/failed-back in accordance with the consolidated status, as a single unit, by using the composite service group.
