Systems and methods are described for retexturing portions of surface in a 2-D image, where the surface is an image of a 3-D object. The systems and methods analyze, with user input, the 2-D image and then, in computer memory, generate a 3-D model of the imaged surface. The surface may then be retextured, that is, for example, artwork may be added to the 2-D image in a realistic manner, taking into account a 3-D geometry in the scene of the 2-D image.

System and method for retexturing of images of three-dimensional objects

A method of obtaining a three-dimensional digital model of an artificial object, made up of a plurality of geometric primitives, the artificial object being in a single two-dimensional photograph, the method comprising: using edge detection to define a two-dimensional outline of the artificial object within the photograph; interactively allowing a user to define two-dimensional profiles of successive ones of the geometric primitives; interactively allowing a user to sweep respective profiles over an extent of a corresponding one of the geometric primitives within the image; generating successive three-dimensional model parts from existing detected edges of the corresponding geometric primitives and the sweeping of the respective profile; and aligning the plurality of three-dimensional model parts to form the three-dimensional model.

Three-dimensional modeling from single photographs

Described herein are methods, systems, apparatuses and products for utilizing motion fields to predict evolution in dynamic scenes. One aspect provides for accessing active object position data including positioning information of a plurality of individual active objects; extracting a plurality of individual active object motions from the active object position data; constructing a motion field using the plurality of individual active object motions; and using the motion field to predict one or more points of convergence at one or more spatial locations that active objects are proceeding towards at a future point in time. System and method for utilizing motion fields to predict evolution in dynamic scenes

One embodiment of the present invention sets forth a technique for generating a three-dimensional (3D) model of an individual. The technique involves receiving pose data that includes image data associated with the individual being in a pose, selecting from a database a morphable 3D generic human model based on a gender of the individual, adjusting a pose of the morphable 3D generic model based on the image data, identifying, based on the image data, one or more 3D appearance parameter objects included in the database, and adjusting via one or more processors one or more properties of the morphable 3D generic model based on the image data as well as the one or more 3D appearance parameter objects to produce the 3D model of the individual.

Perceptually guided capture and stylization of 3D human figures

A method is provided for sketch segmentation via smart scribbles, the results of which are especially suitable for interactive real-time graphics editing applications. A vector-based drawing may be segmented into labels based on input scribbles provided by a user. By organizing the labeling as an energy minimization problem, an approximate solution can be found using a sequence of binary graph cuts for an equivalent graph, providing an optimized implementation in a polynomial time suitable for real-time drawing applications. The energy function may include time, proximity, direction, and curvature between strokes as smoothness terms, and proximity, direction, and oriented curvature between strokes and scribbles as data terms. Additionally, the energy function may be modified to provide for user control over locality control, allowing the selection of appropriately sized labeling regions by scribble input speed or scribble input pressure. Once the drawing is labeled, a wide range of drawing applications are enabled.

Smart scribbles for sketch segmentation

A method for image comparison includes reading from a memory in a computerized image processor a source image and a target image. The source and target images are segmented, using the image processor, into respective pluralities of source and target arrays, respectively including source and target array elements, each array element including a matrix of one or more pixels from a respective image, each of the source arrays having a respective position in the source image, and each of the target arrays corresponding respectively to one of the source arrays based on the respective position. An asymmetric warping process is applied between each of the source arrays and each of the respectively corresponding target arrays so as to compute respective array similarity scores. The respective array similarity scores are combined so as to compute an image similarity score of the target image with respect to the source image.

A method for image processing includes receiving in a computerized image processor a source image having a source size and a definition of a target size that is different from the source size, and defining a plurality of different sequences of two or more different image retargeting operations that when applied to the source image, generates respective target images of the target size. The different sequences are automatically tested, using the image processor, by measuring respective similarities of the respective target images to the source image. One of the sequences is selected responsively to the similarities, and the selected one of the sequences is applied to the source image, using the image processor, in order to generate a target image.
