Systems and methods of operation are disclosed for media delivery systems operable to deliver requested media content to a client device by accessing media resources and media processing elements available on a network to which the media delivery system and client devices are linked. The media delivery system is operable to use the media resources and media processing elements to provide the requested media content in a requested format. The media delivery system may implement network-based media processing, and may use Immersive Technologies Media Format. The media delivery system may implement, such as in, or between, the application layer and network layer according to the OSI model, two control planes: a media control plane and a network control plane, and a data plane: a media data plane.

Systems and methods for network-based media processing

Systems and methods presented herein provide for video compression and decompression. In one embodiment, a video compression system includes a decimation filter operable to receive a video datastream, and to filter the video datastream to remove spatial data components and temporal data components of the video datastream. The system also includes a video codec operable to compress the filtered video datastream and a comparator operable to compare the video datastream to the filtered-compressed video datastream, and to determine a difference video datastream based on the comparison. The system also includes a generator operable to generate a tool for decompressing the filtered-compressed video datastream based on the difference video datastream.

Data transforms suitable for transforming data, such as not necessarily limited to those suitable for transforming data from a spatial domain to a frequency domain, is contemplated. The data transforms may correspond with a discrete cosine transform (DCT), an inverse discrete cosine transform (IDCT), a discrete Fourier transform (DFT), an inverse DFT (IDFT), a modulated lapped transform (MLT), an inverse MLT, a modulated complex lapped transform (MCLT), an inverse MCLT, etc. where the corresponding basis functions are optimized depending on whether data being transformed is characterized as square and non-square.

Adaptively indicating field and frame encoding of coded pictures, such as but not necessarily limited to those transmitted in accordance with High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) (ISO/IEC 23008-2)/ITU-T Recommendation H.265, is contemplated. The field and frame encoding indications may be provided at various levels of granularity, such as on a per picture basis, a per slice basis and/or a per slice segment basis.

Adaptive field and frame identification

Systems and methods of reusing binary bitmaps for images appearing multiple times in a print job. In one embodiment, a system stores a binary bitmap for an image that appears in a print job. The system determines an offset of the binary bitmap into a sheetside, and calculates position values for the binary bitmap based on the offset of the binary bitmap. The system identifies a next appearance of the image in the print job, determines an offset of the image into a sheetside for the next appearance, and calculates position values for the next appearance of the image based on the offset of the image. The system determines if the position values for the image correspond with the position values for the binary bitmap, and verifies that the binary bitmap is reusable for the next appearance of the image if the position values correspond.

Reuse of binary bitmaps generated for images in a print job

A method performed by one or more computing devices. The method includes identifying first and second portions of a digital video signal. First and second values of a plurality of quality metrics are determined for the first and second portions, respectively. The first and second values of the metrics are used to determine first and second values, respectively, of a plurality of picture quality parameters such that a signal transmitted using either the first or second values of the parameters would require at most a maximum output bitrate. The first values of the parameters may differ from the second values of the parameters. The first and second portions are adjusted using the first and second values, respectively, of the parameters. The first and second adjusted portions are transmitted in a continuous signal. Optionally, the first and second adjusted portions are compressed before they are transmitted.

Dynamic picture quality control

Systems and associated methods provide for converting an RGB color image to a grayscale image via a lookup table of correction values. The lookup table is generated and used to compensate for errors in converting the color image to the grayscale image. The lookup table is generated by generating a reference image having pixels with color values in the RGB color space, converting a first copy of the reference image to a grayscale reference image via interpolation, and converting a second copy of the reference image to an intermediate image. The intermediate image comprises chrominance and luminance values (e.g., YCbCR or YCgCo). The chrominance values are removed from the intermediate image. The intermediate image is then compared to the grayscale reference image to generate the correction values. The lookup table may then be applied to a grayscale image that has been converted from the RGB color image.
