A device for measuring intraocular pressure includes a functional part with a tubular probe base and a probe contactable with a surface of an eye to derive an intraocular pressure in the eye from variations in a velocity of the probe. The probe is inside the tubular probe base. The probe is partly formed of magnetic material. An induction coil gives the probe a specific velocity. The device also has means for measuring the variations in a velocity of the probe, means for processing and displaying the measurement data, and controlling operations. The device is mainly characterized by means for holding the probe inside the tubular probe base, and means for releasing the probe for the measurement.

An optometric instrument includes an alignment device that includes light sources for sending out light beams through one or more light channels from the instrument onto the retina of an eye of a patient. The light channels are directed parallel with the visual axis of the eye at correct alignment, whereat the light beams are visible for the patient in an intended way. A method for aligning an optometric instrument includes sending out light beams from the light sources through one or more light channels onto the retina of the eye of a patient, and positioning the instrument to have the light channels parallel with the visual axis of the eye of the patient as a result of finding a position, wherein the light can be correctly viewed by the patient.

Optometric instrument with alignment means and method for aligning an optometric instrument

A liquid handling system that is configured to receive an interchangeable pipetting head that is selected from a plurality of interchangeable pipetting heads for automated liquid handling flexibility and scalability. The system includes a housing and at least one pipetting head disposed within that housing for aspirating and dispensing a liquid. A locking mechanism interchangeably receives the at least one pipetting head and includes an adaptor plate and a support block. The adaptor plate is operably coupled to the housing and the support block is operably coupled to the at least one pipetting head. The support block is then, in turn, is configured to be operably coupled to the adaptor plate.
