Disclosed is a method for synchronizing transmission of signals from antenna reference points, ARP, () of a wireless communication network (). The method comprises initiating transmission of a first synchronization reference signal from a first ARP () at a first time point, instructing a second ARP () to determine a second time point for reception of the first synchronization reference signal, initiating transmission of a second synchronization reference signal from the second ARP () at a third time point, and instructing the first ARP to determine a fourth time point for reception of the second synchronization reference signal. The first and the second synchronization references signals are either transmitted in uplink communication resources available or they are transmitted in downlink communication resources. The method further comprises initiating transmission of data from the first ARP () to wireless devices () at a time point determined based on the first, second, third and fourth time points.

Methods, systems and antenna reference points of a wireless communication network for synchronizing transmission of signals

A method for wireless backhaul inter-node communication between a first backhaul node and a second backhaul node is provided. The method includes computing a beamforming weight matrix W; and the first backhaul node using the beamforming weight matrix W to transmit and/or receive data to and/or from the second backhaul node. The beamforming matrix W is computed as the inverse of a weighted channel estimate matrix (Formula I), such that W=(Formula II), where Ĥ is a channel estimate matrix and ρ is a weighting factor matrix such that (Formula III) where ρ has dimension Nby N, where Nis the number of receive antennas and Nis the number of transmit antennas, where N=Nand ρ is a scalar between 0 and 1, and where ∘ denotes a Hadamard matrix product.

Steering vector weighting for ZF backhaul transmission

A method and a network node () serving a first cell in a wireless network, for reducing interference in a second cell caused by transmission of reference signals in the first cell. The network node () transmits () in the first cell a scheduling block where a number of said reference signals are located in predefined resource element positions in the scheduling block, using a time offset relative transmission of a scheduling block in the second cell. Thereby, the impact of interference from a reference signal from one network node will be distributed over several resource elements in the other network node so that the impact in each resource element is reduced, as compared to when all interference from the reference signal hits one single resource element when no time offset is used.

Method and network node for reducing interference in a wireless network

The present disclosure relates to methods and nodes configured for control link definition in a networked control system, wherein the networked control system comprises a controlling node, a controlled process node and a Machine Type Communication, MTC, wireless communication link between the controlling node and the controlled process node. The method comprises to obtain process characteristics for a process performed in the controlled process node and NCS requirements for an automatic control process to be performed in the NCS. The controlling node also determines link capability requirements for the MTC wireless communication link based on the process characteristics and the NCS requirements. One or more quality of service, QoS, parameters of the MTC wireless communication link are customized based on the determined link capability requirements.

Ways to mitigate problems caused by too narrow transmission zero (nulls) without significantly increasing computational complexity. For example, the problem can be mitigated by modifying MU-MIMO transmission schemes so that the nulls are widened. This way, the UEs that are to be protected from transmission interference stay within the nulls, despite the angular disturbances.

Disclosed is a method and corresponding devices and computer programs for determining antenna weights for transmissions with punctured signals. The method comprises extracting, from a signal reception model for signals transmitted by at least two communication units, at least one of the communication units transmitting with punctured signals, a signal orthogonality loss quantity introduced by the punctured signals. The method also comprises calculating, based on the extracted signal orthogonality loss quantity, a covariance matrix quantifying the signal orthogonality loss between signals transmitted by the at least two communication units. The method also comprises determining, based on the covariance matrix, antenna weights for data symbols in the signals. Also disclosed is a method and corresponding devices and computer programs for designing a beamformer based on the determined antenna weights, wherein the beamformer suppresses the interference caused by a signal orthogonality loss induced by the transmission of punctured signals.

Methods and devices for handling transmissions with non-orthogonalty losses

A network node () a wireless device () and methods therein, for configuring a wireless link () to be used for controlling a process at a wireless device () involving communication of control signals and feedback signals over the wireless link (). The network node () sends a request message () to the wireless device () comprising a request for performance requirements of the wireless link () needed for the communication of control signals and feedback signals. The wireless device () determines () the performance requirements based on at least one of: 1) characteristics of the process, and 2) requirements for how the process is controlled. The wireless device () then sends () a response message comprising the performance requirements to the network node () which configures () the wireless link () so that the performance requirements of the wireless link are fulfilled. The process can thereby be properly controlled by the network node () by sending the control signals () to the wireless device () and receiving the feedback signals () from the wireless device () over the configured wireless link ().

Methods and nodes for configuring a wireless link

In a transmitter or transceiver, codewords from HARQ processes can be mapped or assigned to various layers for transmission and/or retransmission of information on a radio channel. Exemplary embodiments provide for various mappings which facilitate, for example, HARQ processes. For example, a codeword can be mapped onto a plurality of layers which are equal in number to a channel rank of a radio channel to be used for the transmission.

A scaling apparatus and method scales uncertainty criteria (horizontal and vertical accuracy requirements) originally received from an end user before the uncertainty criteria is sent on to a wireless terminal () as requirements on the accuracy of location positioning performed by/for the wireless terminal. In an example embodiment the amount/degree of scaling is selected according to a configured best estimate of the confidence and uncertainty relation, and such best estimate can be based on the majority of the terminals of the network. For a WCDMA radio access network (RAN) case the scaling can be performed in a radio network controller (RNC). For a Long Term Evolution (LTE) radio access network (RAN) case the scaling can be performed in the evolved Serving Mobile Location Center (eSMLC) node. In another case the scaling can alternatively be performed in the wireless terminal itself.

Method and apparatus for position determination in a cellular communications system

A method of improved positioning of a user equipment in a wireless communication network comprises receiving a positioning measurement from a user equipment in the wireless communication network and retrieving bandwidth reduction information. Further, the method includes detecting a deviation in the received position measurement based on the retrieved bandwidth reduction information, managing the received position measurement based on the detected deviation, and determining a position of the user equipment based at least on the managed received position measurement to provide improved positioning for the user equipment.

Method and arrangement for positioning in wireless communication systems

A method for uplink channel estimation comprises providing of a channel state model in a channel estimator. An uplink radio signal of a present time slot is obtained in the channel estimator as well as a series of transmit power control commands issued for controlling a transmit power of the uplink radio signal. A delay between the time a transmit power control command is issued and the time that the transmit power control command is applied is estimated based on measurements of the particular received uplink radio signal. Channel states are adapted based on a transmit power control command compatible with the estimated delay. After the adaptation, channel states of the present time slot are estimated in the channel estimator, by tracking the demodulated uplink radio signal with the channel state model. A channel estimator performing such method is also described.
