A process to prepare paraffins and waxes is provided, the process comprising: subjecting a Fischer-Tropsch product stream comprising paraffins having from 10 to 300 carbon atoms to a hydrogenation step, thereby obtaining a hydrogenated Fischer-Tropsch product stream comprising 10 to 300 carbon atoms; separating the hydrogenated Fischer-Tropsch product stream, thereby obtaining at least a fraction comprising 10 to 17 carbon atoms and a fraction comprising 18 to 300 carbon atoms; separating the fraction comprising 18 to 300 carbon atoms, thereby obtaining one or more first light waxes having a congealing point in the range of 30 to 75&#xb0; C. and a second heavy wax having a congealing point in the range of 75 to 120&#xb0; C.; and hydrofinishing one or more wax fractions having a congealing point in the range of 30 to 75&#xb0; C. thereby obtaining one or more hydrofinished wax fractions having a congealing point in the range of 30 to 75&#xb0; C.

Process to prepare paraffin wax

The present invention provides a paraffin wax having a congealing point according to ASTM D938 of at least 100&#xb0; C. and a Saybolt colour according to ASTM D156 of at least 25 cm.

Process to prepare a heavy paraffin wax

A process for production of middle distillate fraction from gas-to-liquid (GTL) conversion comprising providing a feed stream comprising natural gas and separating a condensate from the feed stream to produce a condensate stream and a feed stream; processing the feed stream via a Fischer-Tropsch (FT) reaction to generate a long chain hydrocarbon product stream; processing the product stream via a heavy paraffinic conversion in order to produce a FT product stream; treating the condensate stream with a desulfurization step to generate a condensate product stream; combining the FT product stream with the condensate product stream to provide a distillate feed stream; and performing a distillation step on the distillation feed stream, wherein the processing steps occur substantially concurrently with the treating step and wherein distillation provides for isolation of middle distillate products. Middle distillate fractions and fuel oils/fuel oil blends obtained according to the process are also provided.

Integrated gas-to-liquid condensate process and apparatus

A hydrogenation catalyst particularly suitable for hydrogenating oxygenates in a hydrogenation unit of a Fischer-Tropsch plant is disclosed. A preferred embodiment comprises more than 5% and less than 20% nickel based on a wide pore alumina support. The catalyst successfully hydrogenates oxygenates which otherwise tend to poison a catalyst in a hydroconversion unit downstream. Moreover, the temperature at which the unwanted hydrogenolysis of long chain paraffins to methane occurs is higher for one catalyst disclosed herein than a comparable known catalyst. This allows the hydrogenation plant to operate at a higher temperature.

Hydrogenation catalyst and use thereof for hydrogenating fischer-tropsch endproducts

The invention provides a process for converting a paraffinic feedstock comprising at least 50 wt % of compounds boiling above 370&#xb0; C., a paraffin content of at least 60 wt %, an aromatics content below 1 wt %, a naphthenic content below 2 wt %, a nitrogen content below 0.1 wt %, and a sulphur content below 0.1 wt %, comprising: (a) reacting the feedstock with hydrogen at a temperature between 175 and 400&#xb0; C. and a pressure between 20 and 100 bar using a catalyst comprising 0.005 to 5.0 wt % of a Group VIII noble metal on a carrier comprising 0.1-15 wt % zeolite beta and at least 40 wt % amorphous silica-alumina (b) withdrawing the effluent (c) subjecting the effluent to a fractionation step to form a heavy fraction, an intermediate fraction, and a light fraction; and (d) providing at least part of the heavy fraction to the reaction zone.

Process for conversion of paraffinic feedstock

The present invention relates to a process for producing normally gaseous, normally liquid and optionally normally solid hydrocarbons during a production cycle (i.e. between regenerations or between start-up with freshly loaded catalyst and the first regeneration) by catalytic conversion of synthesis gas in a multiple reactor arrangement comprising at least two parallel operating reactors containing a catalyst capable of converting synthesis gas to hydrocarbons, and each reactor having a different relative reaction rate, wherein synthesis gas is distributed to each reactor at a feed rate proportional to the relative reaction rate in the respective reactor. It further relates to a reactor arrangement suitable for operating the process according to the invention for producing normally gaseous, normally liquid and optionally normally solid hydrocarbons during a production cycle by catalytic conversion of synthesis gas comprising at least two parallel operating reactors, each containing a catalyst, wherein the reactors are connected to a common header for the distribution of synthesis gas to the reactors, and wherein the common header comprises a distribution means for selectively controlling the amount of synthesis gas fed to each reactor.

Integrated process and reactor arrangement for hydrocarbon synthesis

A process for hydrocracking and hydro-isomerization of a paraffinic feedstock obtained by Fischer-Tropsch hydrocarbon synthesis comprising at least 50 wt % of components boiling above 370&#xb0; C. to obtain a hydro-isomerized feedstock, the process comprising contacting the feedstock, in the presence of hydrogen, at elevated temperature and pressure with a catalyst comprising a hydrogenating compound supported on a carrier comprising amorphous silica-alumina, the carrier having a pore volume of at least 0.8 ml/g, wherein at most 40% of the pore volume comes from pores having a pore diameter above 35 nm and wherein at most 20% of the pore volume comes from pores having a pore diameter below 50 &#x212b; and above 37 &#x212b;, the carrier having a median pore diameter of at least 85 &#x212b;, wherein the product of (surface area per pore volume) and (median pore diameter as measured by mercury intrusion porosimetry) of the carrier is at least 34,000 &#x212b;&#xb7;m/ml.

Process for hydrocracking and hydro-isomerisation of a paraffinic feedstock

A method of accommodating a reduction in production capacity of one or more reactors in a multi-reactor assembly adapted for the production of hydrocarbon products from syngas, the syngas being provided by a syngas manufacturing facility and provided to an entry stream system providing syngas to each of the reactors, and having an exit stream system taking at least hydrocarbon products from the reactors, wherein the method comprises the steps of: redistributing the syngas from the one or more said reactors to one or more other reactors, and increasing the temperature in the said one or more other reactors to at least partially take over the reduction in production capacity of the one or more reactors.

The present invention provides a method to start a steady state process for producing normally gaseous, normally liquid and optionally normally solid hydrocarbons from synthesis gas, which method comprises the steps of: (i) providing an activated catalyst in tubes of a fixed bed reactor, preferably a multitubular fixed bed reactor, the catalyst being suitable to convert synthesis gas to normally gaseous, normally liquid and optionally normally solid hydrocarbons; (ii) contacting the activated catalyst with a liquid to obtain a wetted activated catalyst; (iii) contacting the wetted activated catalyst with synthesis gas and catalytically converting the synthesis gas at an elevated temperature and pressure to obtain the normally gaseous, normally liquid and optionally normally solid hydrocarbons.

Method to start a process for producing hydrocarbons from synthesis gas
