A computer readable medium including executable instructions that when executed perform a method for validating an optimization in generated code using an executable constraints document is provided. The medium can include instructions for relating an assumption to the optimization during code generation. The medium can include instructions for generating the executable constraints document during the code generation, the executable constraints document including information about the relating; and the medium can include instructions for executing the constraints document when the validating is performed, the validating including performing an operation based on a validation result produced by the validating, where the operation includes displaying the validation result to a user, storing the validation result, sending the validation result to a destination, or modifying the generated code.

Optimization identification

A device may generate code for a caller element of a first graphical model and a called element of a second graphical model by generating a first function and a second function. The first function may represent an interface between the caller element and the called element. The first function may include a first input argument corresponding to an input variable and a first output argument corresponding to an output variable. The second function may represent an underlying function of the called element. The underlying function may include the input variable passed from the caller element and the output variable. The underlying function may further include an internal input variable and an internal output variable. The second function may include second input arguments corresponding to the input variable and the internal input variable, and may include second output arguments corresponding to the output variable and the internal output variables.

Code generation for using an element in a first model to call a portion of a second model

A device may receive function information that describes a caller element that calls a called element that is separate from the caller element. The function information may identify a name or reference of the called element, a passed input, and a passed output. The passed input may be provided by the caller element to the called element, and the passed output may be received by the caller element from the called element. The caller element may be associated with a caller model, and the called element may be associated with a called model. The device may identify the called element, and may execute the caller element in a simulation environment. Execution of the caller element may cause execution of the called element without causing execution of an entirety of the called model. The device may receive the passed output from the called element based on executing the called element.

Using an element in a first model to call a portion of a second model

Exemplary embodiments employ a mapping among entities that are related to each other. The entities may include a graphical model, generated code, a generated report, a requirements document and/or an intermediate representation. The mapping may facilitate graphical identifications between parts of one entity that maps to part of another entity. The graphical identification may occur based on a selection of a part in one of the entities.

Traceability in a modeling environment

Functional testing of computer programming code generated from an executable graphical model is performed. The model may include a plurality of graphical objects. The generated code may be stand-alone code, and may include a plurality of functions. A designation of one of the graphical objects may be received. The designated object has input/output defined graphically in the model. Meta-data mapping the designated object to one or more functions of the generated code may be created. The meta-data may also map the graphically defined input/output for the designated object to function input/output of the one or more functions of the generated code. A function interface may be generated using the meta-data that includes a call to the one or more functions, and the function input/output. During execution of the model, execution of the designated object is by-passed and the function interface and the portion of the generated code are executed.

Contextual verification of generated code

A technique for generating an executable document that includes information for validating generated code is provided. The technique can include mapping an assumption to a portion of generated code, the portion containing functional code that is related to implementing the assumption, the mapping allowing at least the portion to be validated with respect to the assumption. The technique can include generating the executable document, where the executable document includes the mapping, and where the generated document validates the at least the portion of the generated code, where validating the at least the portion of the generated code validates the generated code.
