[Summary] Oil pan () for containing engine oil is configured so as to be divided into metallic upper oil pan () and synthetic resin lower oil pan (). Upper oil pan () and lower oil pan () are respectively provided with beam () and rib (), which extend in the front-rear direction of the vehicle. Beam () and rib () are caused to face each other with gap () provided therebetween. When external force which can deform lower oil pan () in the front-rear direction of the vehicle acts on lower oil pan () due to the interference thereof with curbstones or the like, beam () and rib () come into contact with each other and prevent lower oil pan () from deforming in the front-rear direction of the vehicle.

Oil pan for internal combustion engine

An oil supply device for an internal combustion engine includes: a variable displacement pump () that varies a discharge pressure at which oil is discharged; an oil passage () through which the oil discharged from the pump () flows; an oil filter () and an oil cooler () each of which is arranged in the oil passage (); a bypass passage () connected to the oil passage () and bypassing the oil cooler (); and a bypass valve () that opens and closes the bypass passage () according to a pressure of the oil. The bypass valve () is operated to control the flow of the oil through the oil cooleras the discharge pressure of the pump () is adjusted according to operating conditions of the internal combustion engine.

Oil supply device for internal combustion engine

An upper oil pan of an engine includes a flange with an oil pan abutment surface that is fixedly coupled to a flange formed on a cylinder block. The oil pan abutment surface comprises a flat portion that is substantially parallel to a cylinder block abutment surface of the cylinder block, a slanted portion that is slanted with respect to the flat portion, and a vertical wall portion connecting the flat portion and the slanted portion. The vertical wall portion is formed substantially perpendicular to the flat portion. The cylinder block and the upper oil pan are fixedly coupled together via an interposed liquid gasket. Thus, the seal structure in which the liquid gasket is adequately cured is provided, and sufficient sealing properties can be obtained with a small amount of material used.

Seal structure

An engine supercharger lubricating apparatus is provided with an oil passage, a pump and an air introducing passage. The oil passage is configured and arranged to supply a lubricating oil to a supercharger of an engine and to return the lubricating oil from the supercharger to an oil pan. The pump is arranged in the oil passage at a location downstream of the supercharger for pumping the lubricating oil from the supercharger to the oil pan. The air introducing passage is arranged to introduce air into the oil passage at a location downstream of the supercharger and upstream of the pump.

Engine supercharger lubricating apparatus

A seal structure includes a first member including a first joint surface and a flat third joint surface; a second member including a second joint surface joined with the first joint surface, a flat fourth joint surface; and a third member including a fifth joint surface joined, through a liquid seal, with the flat third and fourth joint surfaces. At least the second member includes a recessed portion. The fifth joint surface includes a flat region and a chamfered region which is recessed from the flat region and which confronts the recessed portion.

An engine oil return device for an engine having a cylinder head and a cylinder block is disclosed. The oil return device comprises an oil pan and an oil return path. The oil return path includes at least one oil return main path and at least one oil return extension path. The oil return main path is disposed at a first side surface of the cylinder block. The oil return extension path includes an upstream end and a downstream end. The upstream end is connected to the oil return main path. The downstream end is positioned at a distance from the first side surface such that the oil return extension path extends in a direction of the second side surface of the cylinder block. At least a portion of the oil return extension path is defined by a portion of the oil pan.
