An electrical connector that includes a housing with an interior cavity configured to receive a card. Electrical contacts are secured across a wall of the housing within the interior cavity and are configured to matingly receive corresponding electrical contacts of the card. The plurality of electrical contacts secured across the wall of the housing are the only electrical contacts of the electrical connector. Each of the plurality of electrical contacts includes a mating interface and the mating interface of each of the plurality of electrical contacts is co-planer. Additionally, the housing includes a card slot opening and each of the plurality of electrical contacts are arranged on one side of the card slot opening.

Low profile electrical connector

A board-to-board connector assembly includes a connector interposer between first and second connectors each having a connector housing holding contacts and having a card slot for interfacing with a circuit card edge of a corresponding add-in card. The connector housings have board guides configured to engage the add-in cards and guide mating therewith. The connectors have latches configured to latchably engage the add-in cards to secure the connector to the add-in cards. The connector interposer electrically interconnects the first contacts and the second contacts.

Board-to-board connector assembly for add-in cards

An electrical connector assembly for a communication system includes a housing and a wafer assembly including a PCB terminated contact wafer and a cable terminated contact wafer arranged in a wafer stack. The PCB terminated contact wafer includes a first contact array having first signal contacts having mating portions and terminating ends for termination to a printed circuit board of the communication system. The cable terminated contact wafer includes a second contact array having second signal contacts and a second contact holder having a mating interface and holding terminating ends of the second signal contacts at the mating interface for electrically connection to a cable connector of a cable assembly.

Electrical connector assembly for a communication system

A cable connector includes a twin-axial cable having a first conductor and a second conductor within a core of the cable. The cable connector includes first and second signal contacts including cable terminals terminated to the conductors and substrate terminals generally perpendicular to the cable terminals and terminated to a substrate. The cable connector includes a contact holder having a body encasing portions of the first and second signal contacts. The contact holder has a front and a rear, and a top and a bottom. The cable terminals are arranged proximate to the rear for termination to the cable. The cable extends from the rear of the contact holder. The substrate terminals are exposed at the bottom for termination to the substrate.

Cable connector and cable connector assembly for an electrical system

A flexible circuit connector includes a dielectric holder extending between a base mounted to a circuit board and a mating end mated with an electrical connector assembly. The dielectric holder has a first side and a second side with a first flexible circuit coupled to the first side and a second flexible circuit coupled to the second side. The flexible circuits each have a base edge extending to the base of the dielectric holder and a mating edge extending to the mating end of the dielectric holder. The flexible circuits each have signal conductors routed between the mating edge and the base edge and ground conductors providing electrical shielding for the signal conductors.

Flexible circuit connector

An electrical bridge device includes a support bracket and a flex bridge subassembly. The support bracket includes a frame that extends axially between top and bottom ends of the support bracket. The flex bridge subassembly includes upper and lower carriers held in the frame at least proximate to the top and bottom ends, respectively. The flex bridge subassembly further includes an electrically conductive flex circuit strip coupled to and extending between the upper and lower carriers. The flex circuit strip electrically connects to a first connector on a host circuit board and a second connector on a mating circuit board to provide an electrical circuit path between the host circuit board and the mating circuit board. The upper carrier within the frame is floatable relative to the support bracket to allow the flex circuit strip to align with the second connector.

Electrical bridge device including a support bracket and a flex bridge subassembly

Printed circuit includes a planar substrate having opposite sides and a thickness extending therebetween. The sides extend parallel to a lateral plane. The printed circuit also includes a plurality of conductive vias extending through the planar substrate in a direction that is perpendicular to the lateral plane. The conductive vias include ground vias and signal vias. The signal vias form a plurality of quad groups in which each quad group includes a two-by-two array of the signal vias. Optionally, the printed circuit also includes signal traces that electrically couple to the signal vias. The signal traces may form a plurality of quad lines in which each quad line includes four of the signal traces. The four signal traces of each quad line may extend parallel to one another and be in a two-by-two formation.

Linking cable connector includes a lead frame held in an interior cavity of a cover. The lead frame includes conductive leads arranged side by side in a row and extending between a first end and an opposite second end of the lead frame. At least some adjacent conductive leads are spaced on a first lead pitch at the first end, and are spaced on a second lead pitch at the second end. The second lead pitch is less than the first lead pitch. The conductive leads engage and electrically connect to corresponding wire conductors of a first cable harness at the first end of the lead frame, and the conductive leads engage and electrically connect to corresponding wire conductors of a second cable harness at the second end of the lead frame such that the leads provide conductive paths between the first and second cable harnesses.

Linking cable connector

Cable assembly including a mating connector having a plurality of communication terminals. The mating connector is configured to mate with a system connector of a communication system during a loading operation. The cable assembly includes a trailing sub-assembly having an intermediate connector and an external cable that is terminated to the intermediate connector. The cable assembly also includes a flexible cable extension having signal pathways that are terminated to and extend from the intermediate connector to the mating connector. The intermediate connector communicatively interconnects the signal pathways and the external cable. The mating connector is configured to engage a guide track when inserted into the communication system and slide along the guide track toward the system connector along a non-linear path. The flexible cable extension permits the signal pathways to bend while transferring an operative force for mating the system connector and the mating connector.

Cable assembly and communication system configured to receive the cable assembly

Cable connector including a connector body extending along a longitudinal axis between a mating side and a loading side of the connector body. The connector body is oriented with respect to a mating axis that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The cable connector also includes electrical conductors having body segments that extend through the connector body between the mating and loading sides and contact beams that project from the mating side. The contact beams have mating interfaces that are configured to directly engage corresponding electrical contacts of a mating component during a mating operation. The contact beams are shaped to extend along the longitudinal axis away from the mating side and along the mating axis such that the mating interfaces form a two-dimensional (2D) array that is oriented substantially perpendicular to the mating axis.

Cable assembly including a carrier board having a terminating side and a mounting side that face in opposite directions. The terminating side includes a contact array of electrical contacts. The mounting side includes a mating array of electrical contacts. The contact array and the mating array are interconnected to each other through conductive pathways of the carrier board. The contact array along the terminating side overlaps with the mating array along the mounting side. The carrier board is configured to be mounted onto an electrical component having a two-dimensional array. The cable assembly also includes a plurality of cables having cable end portions that are coupled to the carrier board. The cable assembly includes a shield assembly that extends over the terminating side and covers the cable end portions and the contact array.

Electrical cable assembly configured to be mounted onto an array of electrical contacts

An electrical connector that includes a housing configured to be coupled to a mating connector. The connector has signal contacts held in signal contact openings. The signal contacts are arranged in arrays of quad groups. Each of the quad group has a set of four contacts arranged in row pairs and column pairs. The signal contacts of each quad group are configured to carry relational signals with each other signal contact in the quad group. Each signal contact is configured to electrically couple to a signal contact of the mating connector. The connector also includes ground shields held in corresponding ground shield openings. The ground shields have walls surrounding a corresponding quad group of signal contacts and provides electrical shielding from adjacent quad groups of signal contacts. The ground shields have mating ends for mating with corresponding ground contacts of the mating connector.

Electrical connector systems

A cable contact module of a cable connector assembly includes a dielectric frame, signal contacts, and a ground frame. The signal contacts, held by the dielectric frame, include contact beams that extend from a front of the dielectric frame and electrically connect to signal contact pads on a mating circuit card. The signal contacts are terminated to corresponding cables that extend from a rear of the dielectric frame. Each cable includes at least one center conductor housed within a cable shield. The ground frame includes a ground plate and integral ground beams. The ground plate is mounted to the dielectric frame and engages the cable shields of the cables. Each ground beam extends from a front edge of the ground plate into a void defined between adjacent pairs of the contact beams. The ground beams are configured to electrically connect to ground contact pads on the mating circuit card.

Cable connector assembly

An electrical connector is provided for mating with a mating connector. The electrical connector includes a housing and electrical contacts held by the housing. The electrical contacts are configured to mate with corresponding mating contacts of the mating connector. A sense pin is held by the housing and is configured to mate with a corresponding mating contact of the mating connector. The sense pin extends a length that includes a tip segment and a sensing segment. The tip and sensing segments have different electrical characteristics. The tip segment includes a tip of the sense pin. The tip segment extends between the sensing segment and the tip such that the sensing segment is offset from the tip along the length of the sense pin. The sensing segment is configured to indicate that the electrical contacts and the mating contacts are de-mated by more than a predetermined de-mating distance.

A cable assembly including first and second header connectors. The first header connector has mating and loading sides and includes electrical contacts. The mating side is configured to mate with a first module connector. The second header connector has mating and loading sides and includes electrical contacts. The mating side of the second header connector is configured to mate with a second module connector. The cable assembly also has a cable bundle including communication cables that extend between the loading sides of the first and second header connectors and that connect the electrical contacts of the first and second header connectors. The cables are substantially twist-free between the first and second header connectors when the first and second header connectors face in substantially opposite directions and the first and second module connectors have an orthogonal relationship.
