A surgical system for ablating a tissue, the system comprising: (a) an ablation mechanism comprising a first electrode and an opposed second electrode, wherein the ablation mechanism is configured to receive a tissue between the first electrode and the second electrode, and wherein at least one of the first electrode and the second electrode is movable to allow the first electrode and the second electrode to accommodate variable tissue thicknesses therebetween; and (b) a clamping mechanism configured to release and apply clamping pressure to the tissue between the first electrode and the second electrode, where the ablation mechanism is configured to automatically individually adjust at least one of an ablation energy output of the first electrode and an ablation energy output of the second electrode to accommodate variable tissue thicknesses between the first electrode and the second electrode.

Stabilized ablation systems and methods

Tissue treatment systems include an actuator handle assembly coupled with a clamp assembly having a first jaw mechanism and a second jaw mechanism. A first jaw mechanism includes a first flexible boot, a first flexible ablation member coupled with the first flexible boot, and a first rotatable jawbone disposed within the first flexible boot. A second jaw mechanism comprises a second flexible boot, a second flexible ablation member coupled with the second flexible boot, and a second rotatable jawbone disposed within the second flexible boot.

Adjustable clamp systems and methods

Surgical systems and methods for administering an ablation treatment and other therapeutic or diagnostic protocols to a patient tissue involve a flexible stabilizer mechanism having an inner recess and an ablation mechanism coupled with the stabilizer mechanism.

Embodiments of the present invention encompass systems and methods for delivering ligatures to anatomical features of a patient. Exemplary ligature delivery systems for use in delivering a ligature to a left atrial appendage ligature include an elongate support mechanism having a proximal portion and a distal portion, a flexible hoop assembly, and a cinchable constriction member. The flexible hoop assembly can be coupled with the distal portion of the elongate support mechanism, and can include a support body coupled with a support frame. The support frame can be biased to hold the support body in a trailing configuration, whereby a free portion of the support body is disposed proximal to the distal portion of the elongate support mechanism. The support frame of the flexible hoop assembly can be coupled with the distal portion of the elongate support mechanism. The support body can be configured to support the cinchable constriction member and a loop of the left atrial appendage ligature.

Systems and methods for left atrial appendage closure

An example system for applying an occlusion clip to an anatomical structure may include a visualization tool configured to allow visualization of an anatomical structure using a scope; a clip applier configured to apply an occlusion clip on the anatomical structure; an introducer connectable to the clip applier and configured to aid in positioning the clip applier; and a positioner configured to apply at least one of a linear force and a torsional force to at least one of the clip applier and the clip.

An end effector positioning mechanism for a surgical device may include an articulation mechanism including a plurality of tiltable segments disposed generally in a longitudinal row between an elongated shaft of a surgical device and an end effector of the surgical device. Each of the plurality of segments may be generally in the form of a flattened disk. At least one of the segments may include a proximal surface and/or a distal surface that is substantially planar and is oriented substantially orthogonally with respect to a central axis of the articulation mechanism. At least one of the segments may include a proximal surface and/or a distal surface including two transversely oriented, generally planar surfaces that meet along a substantially diametric peak.

End effector positioning mechanism

Systems and methods provide protection for patient tissue during radiofrequency ablation treatments. Exemplary techniques involve placing a conductive or semiconductive pad assembly near a target tissue, and administering electrical current through the target tissue while protecting adjacent tissue with the pad assembly. The pad assembly may include a material having an electrical conductivity value that is equal to or greater than the electrical conductivity value of the target tissue.
