An apparatus is disclosed for sharing a filter circuit between transmission and reception modes. In example aspects, the apparatus includes a wireless interface device. The wireless interface device includes a transmit chain, a receive chain, and a filter circuit. The transmit chain includes a first component and a second component. The receive chain includes a third component and a fourth component. The filter circuit includes an amplifier, and the amplifier includes a first stage and a second stage. The first stage includes a transmit portion coupled to the second stage and a receive portion coupled to the second stage. The transmit portion and the second stage are coupled together in series between the first component and the second component of the transmit chain. The receive portion and the second stage are coupled together in series between the third component and the fourth component of the receive chain.

The at least one processor may be configured to determine a retransmission rate associated with retransmission of one or more packets by the communications device. The at least one processor may be configured to determine a measurement associated with antenna gain of at least one antenna of the apparatus. The at least one processor may be configured to adjust a transmission power of the apparatus based on the retransmission rate and based on the measurement.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) using a lowered or an adjustable negative transconductance (&#x2212;g) compared to conventional VCOs. This &#x2212;gdegeneration technique suppresses the noise injected into an inductor-capacitor (LC) tank of the VCO, thereby providing lower signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) for a given VCO voltage swing, lower power consumption, and decreased phase noise. One example VCO generally includes a resonant tank circuit, an active negative transconductance circuit connected with the resonant tank circuit, and a bias current circuit for sourcing or sinking a bias current through the resonant tank circuit and the active negative transconductance circuit to generate an oscillating signal. The active negative transconductance circuit includes cross-coupled transistors and an impedance connected between the cross-coupled transistors and a reference voltage.

Low noise and low power voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) using transconductance (gm) degeneration

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for compensating, or at least adjusting, for capacitor leakage. One example method generally includes determining a leakage voltage corresponding to a leakage current of a capacitor in a filter for a phase-locked loop (PLL), wherein the determining comprises closing a set of switches for discontinuous sampling of the leakage voltage; based on the sampled leakage voltage, generating a sourced current approximately equal to the leakage current; and injecting the sourced current into the capacitor.

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for temperature-dependent adjustment of a resonant circuit, such as that found in a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO). Such adjustment may be performed in an effort to compensate for the frequency drift of the resonant circuit due to temperature changes. One example adjustment circuit for temperature-dependent adjustment of a resonant circuit generally includes at least one varactor and two sets of semiconductor devices configured to apply, across the at least one varactor, a differential adjustment voltage based on an ambient temperature of the semiconductor devices to adjust a capacitance of the at least one varactor, wherein each device in the sets of semiconductor devices has a temperature-dependent junction and wherein the two sets of semiconductor devices are configured such that voltage changes of the temperature-dependent junctions in the two sets of semiconductor devices are added in the differential adjustment voltage.

Techniques for low-pass filtering with high quality factor (Q). In an exemplary embodiment, an input current is coupled to the drain of a first transistor. The drain and the gate of the first transistor are coupled together by a resistor R, and the drain is coupled to a reference voltage by a first capacitor C. The gate is coupled to a reference voltage by a second capacitor C. The gate is further coupled to the gate of a second transistor, and an output current is coupled to the drain of the second transistor. In another exemplary embodiment, further passive elements may be coupled to generate an odd-order low-pass transfer characteristic. Multiple filters may be cascaded in series to synthesize a filter having arbitrary order.

An apparatus comprising a first circuit, a second circuit and a third circuit. The first circuit may be configured to generate a video input signal having a voltage. The second circuit may have a finite input resistance configured to generate a current in response to presenting the voltage across the finite input resistance. The third circuit may be configured to cancel the current by (i) generating the current in response to presenting the voltage across a replica resistor having a resistance similar to the finite input resistance and (ii) passing the current away from the apparatus.

Active current cancellation for high performance video clamps

A method and apparatus for receiving video signals from a plurality of video cameras, such as in a video surveillance system. The video cameras are each coupled to provide a video signal to a respective input of a multiplexer. The multiplexer routes a selected one of the video signals to a video decoder. The video decoder receives the selected video signal and is conditioned according to the video signal. This includes synchronizing the video decoder to a frequency and phase of the video signal, controlling a gain level for the video signal and adjusting a dc clamping level for dc restoration of the video signal. Parameters representative of each of these quantities are stored in association with the identity of the corresponding video camera. The video decoder also places each video signal into a format suitable for storage in a storage device and for display by a display device. As the multiplexer is utilized to cycle through the cameras according to a sequence, the parameters for each camera are retrieved and utilized to initialize the video decoder for decoding the video signal received from the corresponding camera. As a result, the amount of time required to condition the video decoder according to the video signal received from each camera is significantly reduced. Accordingly, the present invention allows a surveillance system to cycle through a plurality of cameras in less time than prior systems having a single decoder, but without higher costs associated with prior systems which employ multiple video decoders.

Method and apparatus for receiving video signals from a plurality of video cameras

A line driver couples a data transceiver to a transmission line having a load impedance Z via a transformer with a turns ratio of 1:n, the data transceiver transmitting signals in a first frequency range and receiving signals in a second frequency range different from the first frequency range. The line driver includes an input port for receiving an input signal voltage, an output port for supplying an output signal voltage to the transformer, and a differential amplifier having a low pass filter for amplifying the input signal voltage and outputting an amplified signal voltage. The line driver further includes termination resistors having a resistance R, whereand a positive feedback path for coupling the output signal voltage from the output port to an appropriate node of the differential amplifier so that a synthesized output impedance substantially matches the load impedance Z over the second frequency range.
