Systems and methods are provided for integration of use deasphalted resid as a feed for fuels and/or lubricant base stock production with use of the corresponding deasphalter rock for gasification to generate hydrogen and/or fuel for the fuels and/or lubricant production process. The integration can include using hydrogen generated during gasification as a fuel to provide heat for solvent processing and/or using the hydrogen for hydroprocessing of deasphalted oil.

Integrated resid deasphalting and gasification

Methods are provided for forming lubricant base stocks from feeds such as vacuum resid or other 510&#xb0; C.+ feeds. A feed can be deasphalted and then catalytically and/or solvent processed to form lubricant base stocks, including bright stocks that are resistant to haze formation.

Bright stock production from low severity resid deasphalting

Methods are provided for producing lubricant base stocks from deasphalted oils formed by sequential deasphalting. The deasphalted oil can be exposed a first deasphalting process using a first solvent that can provide a lower severity of deasphalting and a second deasphalting process using a second solvent that can provide a higher severity of deasphalting. This can result in formation of at least a deasphalted oil and a resin fraction. The resin fraction can represent a fraction that traditionally would have been included as part of a deasphalter rock fraction.

Sequential deasphalting for base stock production

The invention is directed to a bimetallic catalyst system adapted for the manufacture of xylenes, a process for making said catalyst system, and to the process of manufacture of xylenes using said catalyst system, providing, in embodiments, improved selectivity by at least one of higher ethylene saturation and low xylene loss, decreased susceptibility to poisoning from feedstream impurities, and ability to operate at less severe conditions.

Bimetallic catalyst and use in xylene production

In a process for producing xylene by transalkylation of a C+ aromatic hydrocarbon feedstock with a Cand/or Caromatic hydrocarbon, the C+ aromatic hydrocarbon feedstock, at least one Cand/or Caromatic hydrocarbon and hydrogen are contacted with a first catalyst comprising (i) a first molecular sieve having a Constraint Index in the range of about 3 to about 12 and (ii) at least first and second different metals or compounds thereof of Groups 6 to 12 of the Periodic Table of the Elements. Contacting with the first catalyst is conducted under conditions effective to dealkylate aromatic hydrocarbons in the feedstock containing C+ alkyl groups and to saturate C+ olefins formed so as to produce a first effluent. At least a portion of the first effluent is then contacted with a second catalyst comprising a second molecular sieve having a Constraint Index less than 3 under conditions effective to transalkylate C+ aromatic hydrocarbons with said at least one C-Caromatic hydrocarbon to form a second effluent comprising xylene.

Transalkylation of heavy aromatic hydrocarbon feedstocks

The invention includes a hydrotreating method for increased CO content comprising: contacting an olefinic naphtha feedstream with a hydrogen-containing treat gas stream and a hydrotreating catalyst in a reactor under hydrotreating conditions sufficient to at least partially hydrodesulfurize and/or hydrodenitrogenate the feedstream, wherein the feedstream and the hydrogen-containing treat gas stream collectively have greater than 10 vppm CO content and/or wherein the reactor inlet sees an average CO concentration of greater than 10 vppm, wherein the hydrotreating catalyst comprises a catalyst having cobalt and molybdenum disposed on a silica-based support, and wherein the hydrotreating conditions are selected such that the catalyst has a relative HDS activity at least 10% greater than an identical catalyst under identical conditions except for a collective CO content of the feedstream and/or hydrogen-containing treat gas being &#x3c;10 vppm and/or a reactor inlet CO content &#x3c;10 vppm.

Hydroprocessing methods utilizing carbon oxide-tolerant catalysts

The invention concerns a xylenes isomerization process for the production of equilibrium or near-equilibrium xylenes. The process utilizes a catalyst comprising HZSM-5 or MCM-49 and process conditions including a temperature of less than 295&#xb0; C. and a pressure sufficient to maintain the xylenes in liquid phase. In embodiments, the process can be operated in a continuous mode with ppm levels of dissolved Hin the feed and in other embodiments in a cyclic mode without the Hin feed but with periodic regenerations using a feed having low ppm levels of H.

Xylene isomerization process and catalyst therefor

In a process for producing xylene by transalkylation of a C+aromatic hydrocarbon feedstock with a Cand/or Caromatic hydrocarbon, the C+aromatic hydrocarbon feedstock, at least one Cand/or Caromatic hydrocarbon and hydrogen are contacted with a first catalyst under conditions effective to dealkylate aromatic hydrocarbons in the feedstock containing C+alkyl groups and to saturate C+olefins formed so as to produce a first effluent. At least a portion of the first effluent is then contacted with a second catalyst under conditions effective to transalkylate C+aromatic hydrocarbons with said at least one C-Caromatic hydrocarbon to form a second effluent comprising xylene.
