Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for Digital Identifier-based subscription onboarding. One apparatus includes a memory coupled to a processor, the memory storing instructions executable by the processor to control the apparatus to acquire a Digital Identifier ('DIG-ID') comprising a verifiably secure identity, and to generate a digital signature of the DIG-ID and a timestamp using a private key. The instructions are executable by the processor to control the apparatus to send a first request to a mobile communication network and to receive a response containing an onboarding authentication success indication and a verified DIG-ID, the first request including the DIG-ID, the timestamp and the digital signature. The instructions are executable by the processor to establish a provisioning connection to the mobile communication network and to receive a subscription credential and/or a user subscription profile via the provisioning connection.

Subscription onboarding using a verified digital identity

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for relocating an access gateway during UE registration. One apparatus includes an interface that communicates with a remote unit and with a plurality of network functions in a mobile communication network. The apparatus includes a processor that initiates registration of the remote unit with the mobile communication network and receives a relocation command from an AMF while the registration is ongoing, the relocation command containing an address of a first TNGF and a first security key. If connectivity with the first TNGF is supported, then the processor sends a first request to the first TNGF, the first request containing a remote unit identity and an AMF identity. However, if connectivity with the first TNGF is not supported, then the processor sends a relocation reject message to the AMF.

Relocating an access gateway

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for establishing a data connection for UAV operation. One apparatus includes a processor and a transceiver that communicates with a mobile communication network via an access network. Here, the processor sends (e.g., via the transceiver) a data connection request to a session management function, the data connection request requesting unmanned aerial vehicle ('UAV') operation. The processor receives (e.g., via the transceiver) a response to the data connection request. Here, the response includes remote identification and tracking information (“RITI”) for the UAV operation. The processor further sends (e.g., via the transceiver) one or more UAV data reports to a UAV Traffic Management (“UTM”) function using the RITI.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for indicating a network for a remote unit. One method includes transmitting a first message including a first registration request from a remote unit. The first message includes a discovery indication indicating that the remote unit is attempting to discover a network configured for use by the remote unit. The method includes receiving a second message including a list of networks configured for use by the remote unit. The second message is received in response to transmitting the first message. The method includes transmitting a third message including a second registration request from the remote unit. The second registration request includes an indication of a network selected from the list of networks configured for use by the remote unit.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for selecting a server application instance. One apparatus includes a network interface that communicates with a plurality of network functions in a mobile communication network and a processor that receives a request from a first network function to provide performance analytics for a first application. Here, the request includes a present location and a requested time. Additionally, the first application comprises a group of application instances. The processor generates performance analytics for the first application by using a first collection of performance data and reports the performance analytics to the first network function. Here, the performance analytics indicate a best application instance in the group of application instances for the present location and the requested time.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for using a pseudonym for access authentication over non-3GPP access. One apparatus includes a processor and a transceiver that communicates with a mobile communication network using a 3GPP access network and a non-3GPP access network. The processor sends a registration message to a first network function in the mobile communication network via the 3GPP access network, the first authentication message comprising a first indicator and a SUCI for the apparatus, wherein the first indicator comprises an indication that the apparatus has the capability for access authentication for non-3GPP access in an EPS. The processor receives a first identity pseudonym for the apparatus in response to the registration message comprising the first indicator and performs access authentication via a non-3GPP access network using the first identify pseudonym.

Using a pseudonym for access authentication over non-3GPP access

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for access network selection for UEs not supporting the Non-Access Stratum ('NAS') protocol over non-3GPP access. One method includes creating a first list of available PLMNs, each PLMN connectable via a non-3GPP access network using a 5G connectivity without the NAS protocol. The method includes selecting a first PLMN from the first list and creating a second list of available non-3GPP access networks. The method includes selecting a first non-3GPP access network from the second list and beginning a connectivity procedure over the first non-3GPP access network, where the connectivity procedure creates a data connection for the apparatus via the first PLMN, and where the connectivity procedure does not use the NAS protocol.

Access network selection for a UE not supporting NAS over non-3GPP access

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for measuring Round Trip Time ('RTT'). One apparatus includes a processor and a transceiver that communicates via an access network. The processor establishes a data connection capable of communicating PDUs over the access network and establishes a measurement session via the data connection. The processor stores a first set of parameters for each PDU sent over the data connection and receives a first message via the measurement session. The processor calculates a value based on the first message and the first set of parameters.

Calculating round trip time in a mobile communication network

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for supporting remote unit reauthentication. One apparatus includes a network interface that receives a first authentication message for reauthenticating a remote unit and a processor that verifies a first domain-name. The first domain-name identifies a key management domain name and an associated gateway function holding a reauthentication security context. Here, the first authentication message includes a NAI containing a first username and the first domain-name. The processor validates the first authentication message using at least the first username and generates a second authentication message in response to successfully validating the first authentication message. Via the network interface, the processor responds to the first authentication message by sending the second authentication message.

Supporting remote unit reauthentication

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for determining remote unit behavior parameters. One method includes receiving a message including parameters associated with an application in a remote unit. The method includes determining a first set of parameters including a first portion of the parameters, wherein each parameter of the first set of parameters corresponds to a remote unit behavior. The method includes determining a second set of parameters including a second portion of the parameters, wherein each parameter of the second set of parameters corresponds to a service behavior. The method includes associating the second set of parameters with a data network name, a single network slice selection assistance information, or a combination thereof.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for reconfiguring a data connection using new parameters. One apparatus includes a transceiver that communicates with a UE and a processor that registers the UE with a mobile communication network using a first set of parameters, where the first set of parameters is based on a UE configuration. The processor identifies a second set of parameters to be used by the UE in the mobile communication network. Via the transceiver, the processor sends the second set of parameters to the UE and sends mapping information which indicates how the at least one parameter in the second set of parameters corresponds to at least one new parameter for the UE configuration.

Methods and apparatuses for reconfiguring a data connection

For data collection, apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed. One apparatus includes a transceiver that receives a first request from a network analytics function to monitor and report occurrences of a first event. The apparatus includes a processor that identifies a first type of network function in a mobile communication network that reports occurrence of the first event. The processor sends a second request to at least one network function of the first type to monitor and report occurrences of the first event and relays reports of occurrence of the first event from the at least one network function to the network analytics function.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for supporting edge data network discovery. One apparatus receives a first request from a function in a mobile communication network, the first request including a UE ID and a UE network address. The apparatus may determine whether the UE is located in a first service area based at least in part on a UE location and forward a DNS request to a first DNS server associated with the first service area based at least in part on a determination that the UE is located in the first service area. The apparatus may further receive a DNS reply and transmit a second request to a policy function in the mobile communication network based at least in part on a determination that the DNS reply includes a first IP address.

One method includes transmitting a first request for establishing a data connection between a User Equipment (“UE”) and a mobile core network and receiving, from an interworking function (“IWF”), a first message including a first encapsulation packet header that contains an echo request indication, where the first encapsulation packet header complies with a General Routing Encapsulation (“GRE”) protocol. The method includes transmitting, to the IWF, a second message including a second encapsulation packet header that contains an echo response indication, where the second encapsulation packet header complies with the GRE protocol.

Measuring round trip time in a mobile communication network

Apparatuses, methods, and systems are disclosed for supporting delegated data connections. One apparatus includes a processor and a transceiver that receives an access request indicating that a remote unit requires to access a first access network. The processor determines to establish a delegated data connection in a mobile communication network for the remote unit, the delegated data connection connecting the apparatus with an external data network. The processor enables the authentication of the remote unit by converting a first authentication signaling used by the mobile communication network to a second authentication signaling used by the first access network. The processor controls the transceiver to forward data traffic between the remote unit and the external data network over the delegated data connection, wherein the delegated data connection is reserved for use by the remote unit.
