Systems and methods for automated temporary device connectivity include receiving data requesting that a first device be associated with a second device and generating a request for an identifier of the second device to be associated with the first device. This request may be sent to an enterprise system and the second identifier may be received from the enterprise system. Data authorizing the first identifier to be associated with the second identifier for pairing purposes may be generated and stored. An indication may be received that the first device has moved within a threshold range of the second device and commands may be sent to cause the first device and the second device to enter a pairing mode.

Automated temporary device connectivity

Systems and methods for pairing-less device connectivity are disclosed. For example, a group of primary devices are authorized to establish a non-bonded connection with a given secondary device. When the secondary device is in proximity of at least one of the group of primary devices, that primary device may receive a wireless beacon from the secondary device. The system may identify the primary device as an authorized device, perform user presence confirmation processes, and send a command to the primary device to establish the non-bonded connection. Encryption using a network layer or a presentation layer and an application layer of a computer network, instead of a link layer, is utilized for secure data transmission over the non-bonded connection.

Pairing-less device connectivity

This disclosure describes techniques and systems for encoding instructions in audio data that, when output on a speaker of a first device in an environment, cause a second device to output content in the environment. In some instances, the audio data has a frequency that is inaudible to users in the environment. Thus, the first device is able to cause the second device to output the content without users in the environment hearing the instructions. In some instances, the first device also outputs content, and the content output by the second device is played at an offset relative to a position of the content output by the first device.

Accessory for a voice-controlled device

Systems and methods for presence-based application invocation are disclosed. For example, presence of a personal device and/or user associated with a personal device is detected at a primary device. When account data associated with the personal device and the primary device correspond, checks are performed to determine if automatic invocation of an application associated with the personal device should be performed. Those checks include determining whether one or more conditions are satisfied, determining current usage of the application and/or the primary device indicates desirability to automatically invoke the application, and/or whether the application has been enabled for use on the primary device.

Presence-based application invocation

Coordinated operation of a voice-controlled device and an accessory device in an environment is described. A remote system processes audio data it receives from the voice-controlled device in the environment to identify a first intent associated with a first domain, a second intent associated with a second domain, and a named entity associated with the audio data. The remote system sends, to the voice-controlled device, first information for accessing main content associated with the named entity, and a first instruction corresponding to the first intent. The remote system also sends, to the accessory device, second information for accessing control information or supplemental content associated with the main content, and a second instruction corresponding to the second intent. The first and second instructions, when processed by the devices in the environment, cause coordinated operation of the voice-controlled device and the accessory device.

Connected accessory for a voice-controlled device

Systems and methods for contextual device pairing are disclosed. For example, when certain user input indicating intent to cause a first device to transition to a pairing mode is received, the first device may broadcast a non-bondable signal with an identifier of the first device. When a second device receives the non-bondable signal, that second device may send response data, which may be received at the first device. The first device may analyze the response data to determine whether a context associated with the first device and/or the second device indicates desirability to transition to the pairing mode.

Contextual device pairing

This disclosure describes techniques and systems for enabling accessory devices to output supplemental content that is complementary to content output by a primary user device in situations where a separate music-provider system provides the primary content to the primary device. The techniques may include attempting to identify the primary content using metadata provided by the music-provider system, retrieving existing audio feature data in response to identifying the primary content, and providing the audio feature data to the accessory device for use in outputting the supplemental content. If the primary content is unable to be identified using metadata, then the techniques may include instructing the primary device to generate audio feature data and/or instructing the primary device to generate a fingerprint of the primary content for use in identifying the primary content.

Systems and methods for low latency audio data pipelines are disclosed. For example, a software enabled access point is established for direct wireless communication between a microphone device and an electronic device. Additionally, an audio data processing pipeline that bypasses default data processing of an operating system stack of the electronic device is utilized. This disclosure describes systems, devices, and techniques for selecting a device in an environment to act as a communication hub for other devices in the environment. For instance, an environment may include two or more devices that are configured to communicate with one another as well as with remote resources (e.g., Internet-available resources, etc.). In one example, the devices each include a first radio configured to communication over a wireless local area network (WLAN) and a second radio configured to communicate over a short-range wireless communication network, such as Bluetooth, ZigBee, Z-Wave, or the like. A device having a highest battery life may be selected as the communication hub for the devices, such that the other non-hub devices may therefore route messages through the hub using their short-range radios. In addition, the non-hub devices may power off their WLAN radios, thus conserving battery life of these devices.
