Techniques are described for wireless communication. One method includes identifying a traffic condition associated with data to be transmitted between a network access device and at least one user equipment (UE); selecting, based at least in part on the traffic condition, a dynamic subframe type of a time-division duplex (TDD) subframe; and indicating the dynamic subframe type in a TDD header of the TDD subframe. Another method includes identifying, in a TDD header of a subframe, an indication of a dynamic subframe type of the TDD subframe; and transmitting data or receiving data in a data region of the TDD subframe based at least in part on the dynamic subframe type.

Techniques for indicating a dynamic subframe type

Some aspects provide for establishing a radio connection for the wireless communication, determining a configuration for whether to segment one or more packets for the wireless communication using the established radio connection, and communicating the one or more packets based on the determined configuration. Some aspects provide for assembling a first frame comprising one or more packets, transmitting the first frame, determining whether a portion of one or more packets was truncated during the assembling of the first frame, and transmitting a second frame comprising at least the truncated portion of the one or more packets of the first frame. Some aspects provide for receiving a first frame comprising one or more packets, determining that a portion of one or more packets is truncated, and determining whether to ignore as padding at least the truncated portion of the one or more packets of the first frame.

Configurations associated with segmentation of one or more packets for wireless communication

A device for communication includes a processor, a transmitter, and a receiver. The processor is configured to generate a traffic advertisement indicating availability of data to be sent to a plurality of devices. The traffic advertisement includes a unicast message addressed to a first device of the plurality of devices. The transmitter is configured to transmit the traffic advertisement during a paging window. The receiver is configured to receive, during a data transmission window that is subsequent to the paging window, a data request from a second device of the plurality of devices. The data request is responsive to the traffic advertisement. The transmitter is further configured to send first data to the second device responsive to the data request.

Various aspects of an approach for managing multi-hop networks are described herein for an apparatus associated with a network that includes detecting, by the apparatus, an event corresponding to a state of association of a first device with the network; updating at least one network parameter based on the detection of the event; and generating a notification based on the update of the at least one network parameter. Another aspect of the disclosed approach includes receiving, by the apparatus, a first notification corresponding to a state of association of a first device with the network, wherein the first notification comprises a first timestamp corresponding to the state of association of the first device; comparing the first timestamp with a second timestamp corresponding to a table stored by the apparatus; and, updating the table with the first timestamp if the first timestamp is more recent than the second timestamp.

Method and apparatus for managing multi-hop relay networks

Systems, methods, and devices for communicating data in a wireless communications network are described herein. In some aspects, a relay may associate with an access point and then clone the access point by transmitting the service set identifier of the access point. An association between a wireless node and a relay may be formed such that the relay provides relay services for wireless network communication between the access point and the wireless node. In some aspects, the relay may generate messages which communicate its available capacity so that downstream nodes may determine from which relays service may be available. In addition, each node may generate messages for upstream relays which communicate the load an association with the node would cause. Through such communication between relays, admission control may be used to minimize associations being dropped because of insufficient available capacity.

Systems, apparatus, and methods for range extension of wireless communication

Methods and apparatus for formatting headers for data packets within a communication frame for use in a wireless communication system are presented. Formatting headers includes determining the size of a wireless communication frame, and formatting the payloads and associated headers within the communication frame according to the determined size. This formatting includes placing headers at the beginning of the frame before the data packets corresponding to the headers to optimize processing of the headers at a receiver. Formatting may also include formatting the headers according to a first format within the frame when the determined frame size is below a predetermined size to optimize the size of the headers, and formatting according to a second format within the frame size of the data packet is equal to or greater than the predetermined size to optimize processing for frames having large data packets.

Methods and apparatus for formatting headers in a communication frame

Depending on channel conditions, a variable abort timer can be set in relation to wireless communication of data packets. Additionally, available buffer size can be evaluated and used to set a length of the variable abort timer. When a packet sequence is sent, packets can become lost in communication. When a lost packet is recognized, the timer can be initiated and a request for re-transmission of the lost packet can is sent. If the lost packet does not arrive during running of the variable abort timer, then the packet sequence can be processed without the missing packet.
