Systems and methods for classification and/or analysis of skin color(s) are provided. The technology integrates artificial intelligence (AI) with dermatology to enhance skin color classification. The unique matching technique aligns skin images with the Fitzpatrick skin type palette through Euclidean distance matching, achieving higher precision in skin color classification compared to conventional methods.

Systems and methods for skin color classification

Systems and methods for imaging breath-hold (BH)-induced oxygenation changes in a patient are provided. A non-invasive, non-contact device can be used to image BH-induced oxygenation changes in one or more parts (e.g., foot) of a patient. The patient can hold his or her breath for a set amount of time while imaging is performed using the device, and the imaging can be performed before and/or after the time while the patient is holding his or her breath as well (e.g., during a recovery period). This enables tissue oxygenation based flow correlation independent of melanin concentration (e.g., skin color) of the patient and/or the curvature of the tissue (of the patient) being imaged.

Skin color independent flow-based diffuse optical imaging

Multi-modal, portable, handheld devices for tissue assessment (e.g., wound assessment) are provided, as are methods of fabricating and methods of using the same. The devices can be used for virtual medicine (VM)-based wound management, such as VM-based diabetic foot triage (DFT) and management. The device can be used to take physiological measurements of temperature and/or tissue oxygenation of a wound to assess the wound, for example in a remote setting environment. The device can also be used to provide therapy for tissue repair and/or wound healing, apart from the multi-modal imaging of the tissue surface of the patient. For example, light therapy, such as low-level light therapy (LLLT) can be provided via one or more light emitting diodes (LEDs) and/or laser diodes.

Handheld devices for wound assessment using multi-modal imaging

A cellphone-based oxygenation tool can include a circuitry housing unit, a light emitting diode (LED) box disposed on the circuitry housing unit, a plurality of LEDs disposed in the LED box, a diffuser sheet or lens disposed on the LED box, a lens holder disposed on the circuitry housing unit and configured to be movable with respect to the circuitry housing unit, a near-infrared (NIR) filter disposed on the lens holder, and a cellphone disposed on the circuitry housing unit and having an NIR sensitive camera. Each of the plurality of LEDs can have different wavelengths, and application software of the cellphone can be configured to acquire data from the NIR sensitive camera and process the data before storing the data.

Cellphone based tissue oxygenation measuring device

The present application describes techniques to image biological tissue to determine biological information of an imaged tissue sample such as changes in hemoglobin concentrations, blood flow rate (pulse), and/or spatio-temporal features. Embodiments include illuminating the tissue sample with light in the near-infrared (NIR) spectrum, which is minimally absorbed but scattered through the tissue sample. By detecting the NIR light that is attenuated through, transmitted through, and/or reflected off the tissue to be imaged, the resulting NIR intensity signals may be further analyzed to provide this data. Embodiments include using multiple NIR light sources having varying wavelengths to obtain changes in the oxy- and deoxy-hemoglobin concentrations of the imaged tissue region. The tissue sample may be imaged over a time period, and the NIR images may be viewed statically or in real time after post-processing analyses have been performed.

Near-infrared optical imaging system for hemodynamic imaging, pulse monitoring, and mapping spatio-temporal features

Systems and methods for scanning near infrared (NIR) and visible light images and creating co-registered images are provided. A system can include a visible light image capturing device, an near infrared image capturing device, a housing unit, a light source configured to emit light at multiple wavelengths, and a processor configured to use image segmentation algorithms to measure a target issue or wound, detect hemodynamic signals, and combine the visible light image and a hemodynamic image to create a single image.

Integrated NIR and visible light scanner for co-registered images of tissues

A method, apparatus, and system acquire data to create a 3D mesh representing a 3D object. The method, apparatus, and system acquire image data of the 3D object using an imaging probe that includes illumination and detection capability. A light source operates to illuminate the 3D object for reflection and/or trans-illumination imaging, and a detection assembly receives image reflection and/or trans-illumination image data. The reflectance and trans-illumination image data collected by the detection assembly are co-registered with a previously acquired 3D mesh using data from a tracking system monitoring the position of the probe, displayed in real-time, and optionally saved.

A method, apparatus, and system acquire data to create a 3D mesh representing a 3D object. The method, apparatus, and system acquire image data of the 3D object using two probes of an imaging system. The flexible probes conform to the shape of the 3D object, illuminate the object at a face of each probe head via optical fibers coupled to an illumination system, and receive at the surface of the 3D object, via optical fibers coupled to a detection system, light reflected from and/or transmitted through the 3D object. The reflectance and transillumination image data collected by the detection system are co-registered with the previously acquired 3D mesh using data from a tracking system monitoring the position of each probe, displayed in real-time, and optionally saved.
