A method performed by a physical computing device communicatively coupled to a computer network for creating an aggregate report of a presence of a user of the physical computing device on the network includes periodically searching the network with the physical computing device for content related to the user authored by a source other than the user, the searching being based on a unique set of identifiers associated with the user, dynamically updating the unique set of identifiers based on contextual trends within content returned as a result of the searching, and aggregating content published by the user to the network with the content returned as a result of the searching to form the aggregate report of the presence of the user on the network.

A communication system includes: a processor; and a memory, the memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: monitor a chat communication session; identify a piece of information exchanged during the chat communication session; compare the piece of information with profile information of a first user participating in the chat communication session; transmit a signal to an electronic device operated by the first user to suggest assigning a tag to the piece of information; receive a request from the electronic device operated by the first user to view the piece of information associated with the tag; and transmit the piece of information to the electronic device for display thereby.

System and method for managing communications

A physical network presence management system includes a processor; and a memory communicatively coupled to the processor. The memory includes executable code stored thereon such that the executable code, when executed by the processor, causes the processor to implement a network browser; in which the processor is configured to: track content uploaded to a network through the network browser; periodically search the network for content related to the user authored by a source other than the user; the searching being based on a unique set of identifiers associated with the user; dynamically update the set of unique identifiers based on contextual trends within content returned as a result of the searching; and aggregate content published by the user with the content returned as a result of the searching to create an aggregate report of the presence of the user on the network.

A solution for providing an instant messaging (IM) space, such as for a chat session, is provided, which includes provisions for spinning off of chat threads. An embodiment of the invention provides a method of providing an IM space, the method comprising: providing a first graphical user interface (GUI) space for an IM conversation; obtaining a selected portion of the IM conversation represented on the first GUI; and creating a second GUI space for a second IM conversation based on the portion selected.

A method for tracking at least recent contacts and favorite contacts across multiple communications services may include collecting, by a processor, information associated with a plurality of contact interactions of a user from each of a set of different communications services utilized by the user. The method may also include storing, by a storage device, the information associated with each of the plurality of contact interactions. The method may additionally include analyzing the information associated with each of the plurality of contact interactions. The method may further include determining at least one of a list of most recent contacts and a list of favorite contacts from analyzing the information associated with each of the plurality of contact interactions.

Tracking contacts across multiple communications services

A method and system for searching contact lists quickly, that provides searching of a contact list by user defined group names, attributes, and/or system defined metadata regarding contacts, groups and/or attributes. The visual display of contacts within the user's contact list user interface display may be configured to visually organize contacts into the groups they belong to, and/or to display the attributes associated with groups and/or contacts within the top level contact list display. Group and/or contact attributes may alternatively be accessed by selecting (e.g. clicking on) a group or contact. A quick search feature is provided that allows the contact list to be searched based on group name, attribute, and/or contact name, as well as based on group, contact and/or attribute metadata.

A system and method for providing indicators of component interaction capability across navigation elements is presented. A user selects an emitter portlet that is located on a viewable page. In turn, a property broker identifies compatible handler portlets located on different pages, and displays handler icons on navigation elements whose corresponding pages include compatible handler portlets. The user selects one of the handler icons and, as a result, the property manager links the emitter portlet to the handler portlet that corresponds to the handler icon, and displays the linked handler portlet's page. The property broker also performs similar functions to link a handler portlet to an emitter portlet.

System and method for providing indicators of component interaction capability across navigation elements

A method for an interaction reminder is provided to prompt a user to communicate with contacts based on a preset threshold of interaction. A setting for a level of interaction is received to communicate with a contact, where the level of interaction corresponds with a threshold. A setting is received for a type of interaction corresponding to the level of interaction for communication with the contact, where the type of interaction includes a telephone communication, an instant messaging communication, and/or an electronic message communication. The level of interaction is determined for communications with the contact. The level of interaction is increased and/or decreased based on a frequency of communications with the contact and based on the type of interaction with the contact. The level of interaction is displayed for communications with the contacts. A warning is provided in response to the level of interaction dropping below the threshold.
