A dynamic simulation engine, having system parameters, may be provided for a component of an electrical power system (e.g., a generator, wind turbine, etc.). A model parameter tuning engine may receive, from a measurement data store, measurement data measured by an electrical power system measurement unit (e.g., a phasor measurement unit or digital fault recorder measuring a disturbance event). The model parameter tuning engine may then pre-condition the measurement data and set-up an optimization problem based on a result of the pre-conditioning. The system parameters of the dynamic simulation engine may be determined by solving the optimization problem with an iterative method until at least one convergence criteria is met. According to some embodiments, solving the optimization problem includes a Jacobian approximation that does not call the dynamic simulation engine if an improvement of residual meets a pre-defined criteria.

Power system measurement based model calibration with enhanced optimization

A system includes one or more processors that are configured to obtain a constraint on movement for a first vehicle system along a route. The constraint is based on movement of a separate second vehicle system that is concurrently traveling along the same route. The processor(s) are configured to determine a speed profile that designates speeds for the first vehicle system according to at least one of distance, location, or time based on the constraint such that the first vehicle system maintains a designated spacing from the second vehicle system along the route.

A generator control computer device for operating at least one generator attached to a grid is provided. The generator control computer device includes at least one processor in communication with at least one memory device. The generator control computer device is configured to receive, from at least one sensor, a plurality of sensor readings representing one or more conditions of the at least one generator, calculate a current grid impedance of the grid based on the plurality of sensor readings, determine a steady state stability limit for the at least one generator based on the current grid impedance, and adjust operation of the at least one generator based on the determined steady state stability limit.

Systems and methods for operating generators based on generator steady state stability limits

A power system model parameter conditioning tool including a server control processor in communication with phasor measurement unit monitored data records of multiple disturbance events, a model calibration unit providing event screening, power system model simulation, and simultaneous tuning of model parameters. The model calibration performing a simulation using default model parameters, the processor comparing the simulation results to the monitored data. If the prediction is within threshold, then terminating conditioning; else performing parameter identifiability analysis to determine differing effects of various model parameters on power system model accuracy, selecting a parameter set causing a degradation in power system model prediction, and updating the default model parameters corresponding to members of the parameter set with values selected to reduce the degradation. Multiple vehicle control system

A dispatch optimization system leverages ambient and market forecast data as well as asset performance and parts-life models to generate recommended operating schedules for gas turbines or other power-generating plant assets that substantially maximize profit while satisfying parts-life constraints. The system generates operating profiles that balance optimal peak fire opportunities with optimal cold part-load opportunities within a maintenance interval or other operating horizon. During real-time operation of the assets, the optimization system can update the operating schedule based on actual market, ambient, and operating data. The system provides information that can assist operators in determining suitable conditions in which to cold part-load or peak-fire the assets in an optimally profitable manner without violating target life constraints.

Gas turbine dispatch optimizer real-time command and operations

A system includes an energy management system disposed onboard a vehicle system configured to travel on a route during a trip. The energy management system is configured to receive trip information from a second vehicle system that includes one or more constraints including at least one of speed, distance, or time restrictions for the vehicle system along the route. The energy management system is further configured to generate a trip plan for controlling movement of the vehicle system along the route during the trip. The trip plan is generated based on the one or more constraints. The trip plan has a plan speed profile that designates speeds for the vehicle system according to at least one of distance or time during the trip. The energy management system is further configured to control movement of the vehicle system during the trip according to the plan speed profile of the trip plan.

System having one or more processors that are configured to (a) generate, as a vehicle system moves along a route, a plurality of different trial plans for an upcoming segment of the route. The trial plans include potential operational settings of the vehicle system along the route. The one or more processors that are configured to (b) select one of the trial plans as a selected plan or generate the selected plan based on one or more of the trial plans. The selected plan is configured to improve one or more system-handling metrics as the vehicle system moves along the upcoming segment of the route. The one or more processors are configured to (c) communicate instructions to change or not change at least one of the operational settings of the vehicle system based on the selected plan.

System for controlling or monitoring a vehicle system along a route

Embodiments of methods and systems for optimizing operation of a wind farm are presented. The method includes receiving new values corresponding to at least some wake parameters for wind turbines in the wind farm. The method further includes identifying new sets of interacting wind turbines from the wind turbines based on the new values. Additionally, the method includes developing a farm-level predictive wake model for the new sets of interacting wind turbines based on the new values and historical wake models determined using historical values of the wake parameters corresponding to reference sets of interacting wind turbines in the wind farm. Furthermore, the method includes adjusting one or more control settings for at least the new sets of interacting wind turbines based on the farm-level predictive wake model.
