The processor is configured to identify, based on the received radar signals, a plurality of radar frames related to an activity of a target. The processor is further configured to extract a plurality of features from the plurality of radar frames, compute burst attributes for the extracted features, predict a gesture based on the burst attributes, determine whether the predicted gesture is a valid gesture, and if the predicted gesture is a valid gesture, perform an action corresponding to the predicted gesture.

A method for exposure level estimation, includes transmitting radar signals for object detection and communication signals for wireless communication operations. The method also includes identifying a location of an object relative to the electronic device within a first time duration based on the radar signals, the first time duration including a previous time until a current time. The method further includes determining a radio frequency (RF) exposure measurement associated with the object based on the location of the object over the first time duration. Additionally, the method includes determining a power density budget over a second time duration based on a comparison of the RF exposure measurement to an RF exposure threshold, the second time duration including the current time until a future time. The method also includes modifying the wireless communication operations for the second time duration based on the power density budget.

A method for allocating power of an electronic device, includes generating a power budget indicating an amount of available power for signal transmission and reception. The method also includes determining whether to prioritize communication signals or radar signals for allocating the available power of a battery. In response to a determination to prioritize the communication signals, the method includes allocating a first portion of the available power for the communication signals and a second portion of the of the available power for the radar signals. The method includes determining whether to obtain feedback for a target gesture associated with the gesture sample. The method includes in response to a determination to obtain the feedback, obtaining the feedback for the target gesture. The feedback includes a label indicating a type of gesture. The method includes determining whether the gesture sample associated with the label is valid based on comparison to a dataset of pre-existing validated gesture samples and a distance threshold. The method includes in response to determining that the gesture sample associated with the label is valid, determining whether to update a model for the gesture classifier using the validated gesture sample as a training sample.

Robustifying radar-based gesture recognition solution using contextual information

The method includes determining whether a moving object is detected using received reflections of the radar signals corresponding to a current radar frame. In response to a determination that no moving object is detected using the current radar frame, the method includes determining whether a moving object is detected using received reflections of the radar signals corresponding to multiple radar frames. The method also includes generating a detection result indicating that (i) no moving object is detected using the multiple radar frames or (ii) the moving object is detected using either the current radar frame or the multiple radar frames.

An electronic device includes a processor operably connected to a radar transceiver. The processor is configured to transmit, via the radar transceiver, radar signals to detect an object. The processor is also configured to detect the object using a single radar frame or multiple radar frames from the radar signals. The processor is further configured to determine whether to use the single radar frame or the multiple radar frames based on motion of the object for angle identification between the object and the electronic device. Additionally, the processor is configured to identify the angle using the single radar frame based on a determination to use the single radar frame or the multiple radar frames based on a determination to use the multiple radar frames. The processor is also configured to modify radio frequency exposure levels based on the angle of the object relative to the electronic device.

The method includes triggering an electronic device to activate a gesture recognition mode in response to detecting that a condition for activating the gesture recognition mode is satisfied. The method includes obtaining radar data while the gesture recognition mode is activated, wherein the radar data includes time-velocity data (TVD). The method includes detecting a start and an end of a gesture based on the TVD of the obtained radar data. To classify the gesture, the method includes determining a gesture, from among a set of gesture, that corresponds to a portion of the TVD between the start and the end of the gesture. The method includes outputting an event indicator indicating that a user of the electronic device performed the gesture classified.
